Who doesn’t love Bob Odenkirk? Nobody is a tremendous action movie brought to us by Ilya Naishuller who also gave us the insane Hardcore Henry. Ilya Naishuller is working with a tight and fast-paced script written by Derek Kolstad who is the mastermind that created the John Wick series.

The Movie Review
Nobody was one of those movies where as soon as I saw the trailer, I knew that this was going to be a movie that was perfect for me. Bob Odenkirk stars as Hutch Mansell, he is an everyday joe who works a job he does not love as he has to deal with his douchebag in-laws. In regards to how he is treated at work, you really do feel for the guy.
His life is pretty mundane, he loves his wife and kids, but he is the kind of guy that most people watching the movie are going to be able to relate to. I really cannot think of another actor that could have pulled this off as well as Bob Odenkirk does. However, this “average” guy has a past, a past that saw him working as an elite assassin/henchman for the government!
He has thought that this life was long behind him, but one evening a couple of doofus burglars pick the wrong house to try and break into. Hutch puts an epic beating on these clowns and it kind of awakens something in him, something that had been greatly missing in his life. What is great about the performance here is that even when he is doing these insane things, we still kind of relate to him!
No spoilers here, but his past life comes back to him as he finds himself at odds with these Russian gangsters with millions of dollars at stake! Seeing him get back into his ass-kicking ways is so much fun and there is a scene on a bus which is one of my favorite scenes from an action movie in a very long time!
While the nice and normal family man who has been pushed over the edge is not anything new. I think that the execution in Nobody is fantastic and something that even those who are not usually into action movies are going to be able to have a lot of fun with. The wife and I ordered pizza, had a few drinks and we had a great time watching this at home.
A huge reason why I think this movie is such a fun time is the pacing. You are looking at around 90 minutes here and it is the perfect length for this movie. I think any more and it would have been padding for the sake of padding. I never felt like I needed something explaining more or a particular scene felt rushed, they absolutely nailed the pacing of this movie, some other action movies should take notes!
The Bottom Line
You are in for a great time with Nobody. I can see this being a movie that I fire up a few times a year, it is great for when you just want to relax and have fun with a movie. Bob Odenkirk is amazing in this role and the talk of a cross-over between Nobody and John Wick is something that has me very excited.
