Ocean’s 8 is an adventure comedy movie produced by Warner Bros. Pictures. Released on 5th June 2018, the movie is a spin-off from the Ocean’s trilogy (which includes Ocean’s Eleven (2001), Ocean’s Twelve (2004), and Ocean’s Thirteen (2007)). The film is directed by Gary Ross and features a cast consisting of Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, and Rihanna.

The Film Review
Ocean’s 8 begins as we watch Debbie Ocean, the younger sister of Danny Ocean, come out of prison and gather up a team consisting of her old accomplices and friends including Lou Miller, Rose Weil, Amita, Nine Ball, Constance, and Tammy, in order to help her carry out a robbery by stealing a necklace worth $150 million.
Each individual in Debbie’s selected team has a unique talent which is applied during, the process of preparation, or the heist itself. Confident in her own skills. Debbie herself plans out the whole heist and makes the necessary preparations to carry it out. The story revolves around the group’s adventure as they attempt to steal one of the world’s most expensive necklaces at one of the world’s most popular museums.
Full of glamour, comedy, and most importantly, sisterhood, Ocean’s 8 combines a hefty cast of some of the most remarkable females who forge together to form an unstoppable group of thieves willing to do anything to get their hands on a one of a kind necklaces at the Met Gala.
One thing important to note here is that despite the film belonging to the Ocean’s Eleven universe, director Gary Ross along with the rest of the cast do not follow the George Clooney version of the film, rather, they brilliantly manage to reinvent a similar scenario with added humor and glamour.
The film carries an obvious feminine touch but regardless, the impacts of this factor on the film in terms of performance are little to none. One can admit that the film doesn’t really have a particular or meaningful storyline but just seeing how these fantastic actresses pull off an impossible stunt in the most hilarious and carefree way makes it worthwhile to watch. Moreover, the film’s villain is basically nerfed as it barely manages to pose a challenge against our favorite group of thieves.
Despite the film’s simplistic and humorous script, numerous parents have shown a feeling of concern over some of the film’s content. Parents have complained that, although the film is rated PG-13, it still contains some factors which do not justify the ratings which include the foul language that is used, instances where one of the characters can be seen doing drugs, as well as a scene where a woman in a lingerie can be seen performing inappropriate acts on a man. Parents believe that these factors can leave lasting effects on the minds of young children who tend to watch a film such as this.
Overall, Ocean’s 8 can be considered the perfect movie in the summers to watch on comfy sofas with all the friends as it effortlessly combines glamour and clever planning with witty conversations between the characters. Maybe not one of the best, but certainly one of the most enjoyable films to watch with your friends!
