Ready Player One is a science fiction adventure film produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, Amblin Partners, and Amblin Entertainment. The film is based on a novel with the same name released in 2011. Ready Player One is directed by Steven Spielberg and stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, T.J. Miller, and Simon Pegg as the main cast.

The Film Review
Released on 11th March 2018, the film is set around the year 2044-2055 and displays how humans have become addicted to a virtual reality world called OASIS. One day, the co-founder of OASIS, the late James Anorak Halliday, announces that anyone who manages to find three hidden keys that unlock the pathway to the Easter egg inside will be given full ownership of OASIS.
This attracts numerous private gamers as well as a company called Innovative Online Industries (IOI) to take part in the competition. Amongst the competition, a young 17-year-old boy named Wade Watts manages to find one of the keys to the pathway along with his in-game friends Art3mis and Aech. Wade’s in-game avatar called Parzival gets an offer to join the IOI by its owner, named Nolan Sorrento.
Upon refusal by Wade, Sorrento and his accomplices bomb Wade’s house and although he manages to escape thanks to Art3mis’ user Samantha, Wade’s aunt Alice dies in the attack. Wade and the gang continue to search for clues and manage to find the second key as well. Sorrento attacks once again, this time, by capturing Samantha. In retaliation, Wade recruits many OASIS players and launches an all-out attack thereby defeating Sorronto and his Mechagodzilla.
Samantha is freed, and the players manage to find the third key as well, unlocking the Easter Egg. Sorrento and Zandor are arrested meanwhile, Wade decides to share the ownership with his team called the High Five.
According to director Steven Spielberg, Ready Player One was the most difficult movie he had to direct ever since directing Saving Private Ryan. Due to its nature and the year the film was set in, virtual effects had a big part to play in the film. For this reason, Spielberg worked with the animation company known as Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) to oversee the effects portrayed in the film. Spielberg would meet with the ILM animators for almost three hours three times a week. The film, altogether, is a combination of the original work from The Shining and ILM’s additional work.
The main score of the film was initially scheduled to be composed by John Williams however, due to some issues, it was decided that Alan Silvestri would take over this responsibility. The main theme song was released on 30th March 2018 by WaterTower Music.
Overall, Ready Player One is a very creative film as it lays the foundation of a scenario that we might get to experience in the future as well. The film turned out to be a success by grossing over $582 million in total. The film is very ecstatic, particularly for those viewers who have an interest in gaming.
