The four find encounter many intriguing creatures on their travels before being attacked by Gargamel who plans on capturing all the Smurfs in order to take their essence from them and become the strongest.
The four Smurfs manage to get away before finally encountering the female Smurfs in the lost village that is known as Smurfy Grove. Smurfette informs all the female Smurfs about Gargamel as they prepare to attack him during night time.
Miraculously, Papa Smurf shows up instead of Gargamel as it turns out that he had been looking for Smurfette along with the rest to apologize for punishing them earlier. Soon however Gargamel strikes and manages to capture everyone in Smurfy Grove except Smurfette.
