The LEGO Batman Movie is an animated comedy that relates the adventures of the well-known superhero. It was produced by the Warner Animation Group and directed by Chris McKay. The script was written by Seth Grahame-Smith, Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, Jared Ston, and John Whittington. The film was released in Ireland on January 29, 2017. In the United States, the film premiere was a bit later – on February 10, 2017. There are no age restrictions for the viewers of the film, but only the older audience will be able to understand all the jokes, and numerous references to pop culture and earlier films about Batman. But children will have a great time nevertheless.

The Cast
The protagonists of the film are characters known from the series. The voiceovers were done by the following actors:

- and Zach Galifianakis (Joker).
The soundtrack was composed by the Scottish composer Lorne Balfe along with Chad Smith (the drummer of Red Hot Chili Peppers). It was released on February 3, 2017, on a CD. The best-known song is Who’s the (Bat) Man.
The animated movie was nominated for Teen Choice awards in the category of favorite comedy and favorite comedy actor (for Will Arnett). The LEGO Batman Movie also received a nomination for Golden Popcorn, and it had a chance to win the statue for the best comedy role.
The Storyline
In the movie, Batman is still responsible for protecting Gotham City. During one of his missions, he stops his ancient rival Joker from destroying the city and at the same time he admits that Joker is not important to him, hurting the feelings of the villain. After this event, Joker is planning to release all villains from the Phantom Zone. The LEGO Batman Movie is a story about Joker’s struggle to get Batman’s attention and regain the title of his archenemy.
The city is once again facing a threat. However, the story is also about the emotions of the protagonist. He has ceased to be the favorite of the city residents since the beautiful Barbara Gordon has become the police commissioner. She makes Batman feeling down and at precisely the same moment Joker puts his ominous plan into action. The story becomes even more complicated when Bruce Wayne (Batman’s secret identity) unknowingly adopts the superhero Dick Grayson.
Batman does not want to admit to himself that he lacks family and friends. This time, however, if he wants to save Gotham City, he will be forced to give up his loneliness and learn to interact with others. By the way, he may learn to take a more positive attitude and see that it is much easier to fight when you have friends on your side (Alfred, Robin, and Batgirl).
In The LEGO Batman Movie, there is plenty of fast action, gags, and jokes about superheroes. The movie is certainly appealing, which has been confirmed by huge box office success.
