I have been a Simpsons fan since it first aired on Sky TV here in the UK, which I think was in 1990. While for me personally, I think the first 12 seasons are the best, I still enjoy the show to this day. The Simpsons has to go down as one of the greatest TV shows of all time and there is no way in hell that I could give this anything other than a 10/10.

The Movie Review
Which brings me to the way that we are going to do this “review” today. Look, if you are reading this, you know what The Simpsons is. You do not need me to tell you about this show, who the characters are, and so on. That would be insulting, instead, I thought we could have some fun by me picking what my favorite episodes are and you can then fire them up on Disney Plus, well all, but one, but we will get to that in due time.
My favorite episode of The Simpsons is from season 9 and it is The City of New York City vs Homer Simpson. In this episode, Barney ends up dumping Homer’s car in New York and the family has to take a trip to go and get it. Homer is terrified as he says that New York is full of weirdos.
The scene with Homer driving through New York with the clamp on his car, jackhammering it off, and then getting it stuck on the floor is freaking hilarious! I also got a huge kick out of seeing a teenage Homer Simpson taking a trip to New York and getting robbed and falling into trouble with a pimp!
Another great episode is from season 4, Homer the Heretic which features one of my favorite scenes of all time. Homer is sick of having to go to church every Sunday and on one Sunday he has had enough and decides that he is no longer going to church. He is enjoying his new blasphemous lifestyle, much to the annoyance of Marge!
However, when Homer is having the greatest Sunday of his life which involves watching football, reading Play Dude magazine, and eating junk, he falls asleep and the house burns down. The scene I love is when Ned tries to save Homer by throwing him from the window to the mattress below, but Homer just bounces back through the window, I laugh every time I see this scene!
Next up we are going to season 3 with Stark Raving Dad! This episode is famous for Michal Jackson appearing in it. Homer ends up being sent to the nuthouse where he befriends a big fat mental patient that thinks he is Michael Jackson! This episode has one of the all-time classic Simpsons songs in it, Lisa It’s Your Birthday! What sucks about this is that this episode is not on Disney Plus nor is it on the most recent Simpsons DVD release!
We are jumping to season 9 now with Mayored to the Mob. In this episode, Homer becomes a bodyguard and takes a job protecting Mayor Quimby who is the target of Fat Tony, Springfield’s number one gangster. This episode has some great moments, like Homer asking Lisa to start his car for him.
What the episode is most famous for is Mark Hamill playing Luke Skywalker and doing “Luke Be a Jedi Tonight which is awesome. I love the ending to this episode where Homer is carrying Mark, “The Bodyguard” style, kicking random people in the stomach as he walks past.
The last episode I want to give a shoutout to is Bart the Daredevil from season 2. This episode sees Bart sees Lanc Murdoch, a famous daredevil and he decides he wants to follow in his footsteps. Of course, Homer and Marge are not happy about this, especially when Bart makes the decision to try and jump across Springfield Gorge on his skateboard.
One of the most iconic scenes from The Simpsons has to be Homer falling down Springfield Gorge. The part I get a kick out of is when he is loaded into the ambulance and it crashes straight into a tree, sending him down the Gorge again. While this episode is hilarious, it also has a few touching moments between Homer and Bart as well.
Truth be told, picking just five of my favorite episodes was really tough, I could easily do a top 20 episodes of The Simpsons list and still have another 20 honorable mentions! This is just awesome TV and even if you are one of the people that feel the show is not as funny as it used to be, that takes nothing away from the decade plus run of awesome episodes.
