The Thursday Murder Club is a movie that I had no idea existed, but when I saw that the legend Chris Columbus, the man who gave us stuff like Gremlins and The Goonies, was the director, I was very interested. This movie also has a fantastic British cast with Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Sir Ben Kingsley, and Celia Imrie, who have amazing chemistry with each other.
Where to Watch The Thursday Murder Club

The Movie Review
Is The Thursday Murder Club Worth Watching?
Before I get to the movie, I have to talk about Netflix. Netflix is my favorite streaming service, but a little while back, they updated their UI, and it sucks! I hate and I mean hate the new Netflix UI! It makes seeing what is new on Netflix and what is coming soon on Netflix much more of a pain in the butt. It also makes going to specific categories more annoying, and just scrolling through feels way more of a chore!
Because of this, I have found myself spending less and less time with Netflix. I used to like going to the new section and the coming soon section so I could add stuff to my list. If The Thursday Murder Club had been released earlier in the year. I would have 100 percent known about it, as I would have seen it in the coming soon section! I have no idea who approved this change, but it sucks, and it has made me use Netflix less than I did. If you live in a region that has not yet adopted this new UI, consider yourself lucky!
The Thursday Murder Club Netflix Review
Ok, rant over, while Netflix’s UI may suck, they still know how to make a great Netflix Original as The Thursday Murder Club was a blast! Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, and Sir Ben Kingsley play the roles of Elizabeth, a retired MI6 agent, Ron, a former union leader, and Ibrahim, a retired psychiatrist. They live in a fancy retirement home called Coopers Chase, which is a massive mansion-like building with lots of acres.
These three make up The Thursday Murder Club. They meet each Thursday to try and solve cold murder cases, and this particular one has them stumped. However, they meet a new resident in Cecile Imrie’s Joyce, who is a retired nurse, and she is able to help them with the case they are working on. Joyce is thrilled to be part of the group, and she becomes good friends with them.
A Murder Mystery With A Twist
Well, all is not rosy at Coopers Chase! David Tennant’s Ian is one of three men who own the land that Coopers Chase is on, and he wants to knock it down and build expensive flats on the ground. When one of the men who stands against Ian ends up dead, The Thursday Murder Club, along with a police officer that they have befriended, dig into the case and find that it has ties to the cold case murder they were looking at!
The Cast and Story Make This a Must-Watch
This is a fun mystery movie, and what makes it so entertaining is the cast. Not just our four leads, but the supporting cast is all a lot of fun too, and works great with the main cast. This comes in at around two hours, and it does not drag a bit. This is actually based on a book by Richard Osman, and there are more books in the series, so I would love to see Netflix make another one of these, once they have fixed their just god awful UI, of course!
