Trainwreck is the best thing Amy Schumer (also check our review of her Bros) has done! I am not a fan of her stand-up at all and to be honest, had zero interest in a movie that she wrote and starred in. Yet, with Judd Apatow directing and a very impressive supporting cast, I decided to give the movie a try, plus the fact I found the Blu-Ray for £2 also made watching this much easier.

Movie Review: A Hilarious Romantic Comedy
The movie is about a woman called Amy whose dad when she and her sister Kim were kids taught her that monogamy is not real or possible. Amy has taken this attitude with her throughout her whole life and has never had the desire to fully commit to just one guy, even though she has a “boyfriend” called Steve, played by John Cen!
Amy’s Unconventional Lifestyle
Amy loves to just hook up with anyone that she wants, but there is a golden rule. After sex, they or she has to go, there is no staying over allowed. Amy has a good career as a writer for a men’s magazine. Her latest assignment is to interview a celebrity sports doctor called Aaron, even though she knows nothing about sports.
Bill Hader’s Stellar Performance
Aaron is played by Bill Hader and I am a huge Bill Hader fan, he has that great blend of comedy and sweetness on full display in Trainwreck. Amy and Aaron hit it off and they really do like each other and they start dating. However, Amy’s views, job, and sexual history have a major chance of screwing it all up for them. You can see where this is going, but it is still a fun ride.
A Star-Studded Supporting Cast
A huge part of what made Trainwreck so much fun for me was the cast. The supporting cast includes the likes of Brie Larson, Tilda Swinton, Ezra Miller, Vanessa Bayer, and more. We even get some people playing themselves like Matthew Broderick, Chris Evert, Marv Albert and I would also say technically cameos for Daniel Radcliffe and Marisa Tomei as well.
LeBron James Shines
However, the best supporting role in this movie and a huge reason I was willing to give it a go is LeBron James. That is right basketball superstar LeBron James is in this movie as Aaron’s best friend and he is so much fun. He is playing himself, but he has a surprising amount of heart and he is way better here than he was in that unnecessary Space Jam sequel. There is a scene where LeBron James and some of Aaron’s other celebrity friends hold an intervention for him and it is great!
Schumer’s Impact
If I am being 100 percent honest, despite liking this movie, there is still something just so unlikable about Amy Schumer for me. Hey, she has her fans and that is awesome, but her whole act has just never clicked for me, even in the second season of a show I love, Only Murders in the Building I did not like her. However, I will say that this is the best I have seen her in anything and I would not be against watching this again.
