I will admit I had never heard of this series until a buddy turned me onto it. True to the Game 3 is a direct sequel to 2020s True to the Game 2 like it takes place right after. I ended up watching all three movies back-to-back over a couple of nights and it was a pretty fun experience. These are cool crime thriller-type movies and I think that the third one is probably the most polished of the bunch.

The Movie Review
This time around we have David Wolfgang handling the directing duties and Jeff Robertson with the script. These two make a great duo and what I think is really good is that they clearly learned what worked and what did not work from the second True to the Game movie.
The basics of the plot here are that originally, we had this big-time drug lord badass called Quadir who wanted out of his life of crime after he meets and falls in love with a woman called Gena. Of course, you can never really walk away from this kind of life scot-free and that is very true for Qadir.
After the events of the second movie, things looked pretty grim for Geena. However, we would learn that the person who saved Gena was in fact, Quadir and he told her that they could be together, but there are a few loose ends that need tidying up first. As you would expect from a crime thriller, things are not smooth at all!
What I liked about True to the Game 3 was that the whole movie just had a really cool and hip vibe to it. The second movie had a kind of weird pretentious thing going on with all these artsy-fartsy shots and screen transitions. That is all gone here, it is a much more slick, straightforward, and character-driven kind of movie.
They managed to get all of the cast back here and I have to say that my favorite character of the entire series is Vivica A Fox’s Shoog, who did have a bit of a heartbreaking scene in this movie. I like how the whole cast gets a chance to shine here, the performances are believable and there is a good mixture of characters that you can like and characters that you flat out hate!
I am someone that loves a good crime thriller and one of the best compliments that I can give True to the Game 3 is that it kept me guessing until the end. I was always wondering if Quadir (or Q to his friends!) was going to get his happy ending and I must admit, even though he may have been a bad dude in the past, you really want it for him.
In all, True to the Game 3 is a solid crime movie and if it is the end of the series, it is a fitting end. I think that it is better than the second movie, but I do think the first was more thrilling and entertaining overall. If you are looking for something to watch, I highly recommend watching all three as a trilogy, it is a bit of a hidden gem.
