Pretty much this time last year, I was singing the praises of Wicked, saying how it was one of the best movies of the year, and now I am here to do the same for the sequel, Wicked for Good. This was the most packed I have seen my local movie theatre this year, one of the ladies who worked there said that pretty much every showing over the weekend was sold out! They literally were turning people away; it was that popular.
Where to Watch Wicked for Good
Wicked for Good was released on November 21, 2025. You can expect to be able stream the film from Peacock a couple of months later.
The Movie Review
Fan Atmosphere and Audience Excitement
Wicked for Good also had the most pumped-up audience I have ever seen. People were dressed up, and there were tons of folks with the cups and popcorn buckets that my theatre was showing. There was just this excitement and happiness in the air, and it got me even more excited for the movie than I was before I walked in. This is also the only movie I have seen this year that had people clapping at the end of it.
Returning Cast and Storyline Continuation
As this is a direct sequel that was filmed at the same time, John M. Chu is behind the camera, and we have the same cast as before. It takes place a little while after the epic ending of Wicked and The Wizard, along with Madame Morrible, are ramping up their propaganda to make people scared of Elphaba, “The Wicked Witch of the West,” as well as the animals of Oz.
Character Dynamics and Love Triangle
Of course, Glinda, along with Fiyero, are trying to do what they can to help Elphaba, but really, their hands are tied. I thought that the love story/triangle in Wicked for Good with Elphaba, Fiyero, and Glinda was very well done. I still have never seen The Wicked stage show, so I cannot say how faithful this is, but for me, it felt like a great continuation, and the movie just zoomed by as it was so entertaining.
Ties to The Wizard of Oz and Fan Service Moments
I thought that the tie-in with The Wizard of Oz was so very well done, and we got to see little bits of Dorothy, and I thought the way that the Tin Woodsman, The Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion came to be was incredibly well done. They were there, but they never took focus away from the fact that this is the story of Elphaba and Glinda, and once again, the chemistry that Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have is just off the charts…. Even if some of the interviews these two do are a little odd. However, I find it kind of charming in a weird way, and it just adds to the whimsy of this movie.
Cinematography, Music, and Overall Impression
Wicked for Good looks amazing, and it once again has some fantastic songs that help move the story along. It is hard to say which is the better movie, as these really are just one movie in two parts. It is very hard to pick which I liked best. It is weird in that I think that Wicked for Good is a better story, but the Gravity song at the end of the first movie is easily the most spectacular song and scene of both movies. Hey, I would give them both 10/10; they are that good, and I just do not see how anyone who loved the first movie would not love this as well.
Missed Merch and Rewatch Hopes
The only negative thing that I have to say about Wicked for Good is that I wish I had bought one of the popcorn buckets; by the time my showing ended, they had sold out of the one I wanted. Hopefully, with this being as popular as it was, by the time I go to see Zootopia 2 in a couple of weeks, they will have more back in. I would love to see these two cut together as one epic long showing, and if they ever do that, I would 100 percent go and see it. I would just make sure I did not have a jumbo soda right at the start of the showing!
