Ok, for this review, I am going to refer to this movie as Zootopia 2, but where I live in the UK, it is called Zootropolis 2. The reason for this is something to do with a licensing issue in certain parts of Europe. No matter if you call this Zootopia 2 or Zootropolis 2, you are in for a really fun time when you are watching this. I went to see this on Christmas Eve, and it was such a fun experience. And for a movie that had been out a while, my cinema was pretty packed.
Where to Watch Zootopia 2
Zootopia 2 was released on November 26, 2025. You can expect to be able to stream the film from Disney+ a couple of months after its theatrical release.
The Movie Review
The movie takes place just after the events of the first Zootopia. Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps are now actual members of ZPD, but they have very different styles and attitudes to police work. Due to a few mishaps by the two eager recruits, the police chief is threatening to split them up if they cannot work together better and, of course, follow their orders.
A New Mystery Unfolds in Zootopia
Well, while on a case, Judy comes across a shed scale, which leads her to believe that there is a snake in Zootopia, which is strange as a snake has not been seen in the city for years! After doing a little detective work, Judy is sure that this snake is going to try and strike at the big fancy gala being held by the Lynxly family, the descendants of the founder of Zootopia.
New Characters Bring Fresh Energy
While on the case and trying to prove that there is a snake in Zootopia. Judy makes friends with the black sheep of the Lynxly family, Pawbert, and he tries to “help” her catch this snake, who is trying to steal something from his family. Judy thinks that cracking this case could be just what she and Nick need to prove that they were not just a one-hit wonder after the events of the first movie.
A Fun, Fast-Paced Family Movie
Honestly, I cannot go into any more detail than that, as Zootopia 2 is one heck of a fun heist and whodunnit kind of movie with many moving parts. On the drive home, I was discussing it with the family, and we felt that it had more than a few similarities with The Bad Guys, which is meant as a compliment.
Voice Cast Shines Bright
The movie has great pacing and is equal parts funny, exciting, and mysterious as it all comes to its conclusion. While the major players from the first movie are all here, we have some great new talent voicing characters here. Andy Samberg voices Pawbert, and Ke Huy Quan voices the slithery and awesome, Gary De’Snake. We also have the likes of Patrick Warburton and Danny Trejo, which I got a huge kick out of.
Fortune Femister Steals the Show
However, my favorite new addition to the cast was Fortune Femister. Fortune Femister plays the role of a beaver called Nibbles Maplestick, who hosts a conspiracy podcast and ends up helping Judy and Nick. She is such a fun character and by far the highlight of the movie for me. I thought she would be fun after seeing the trailer, but she has so many more fun moments. However, she is not just a one-dimensional character; she gets to show a heroic side, too.
Final Thoughts on Zootopia 2
I had so much fun with Zootopia 2, and it has been a huge hit for Disney, so I hope this is not the last we will see of this franchise. Disney has had two awesome animated movies this year in Zootopia 2 and Elio, proving that the house of mouse still knows how to tell fun, exciting, and heartwarming stories that the whole family can enjoy. I cannot wait for this to hit Disney+ so I can watch it again!
