The Song Review
The song is a flirtatious one as it talks about a boy and a girl winking at each other, indicating that they are playfully in love with one another. The song is available to play through digital download.
Aankh Marey is a cheerful and entertaining song which has taken over the Indian music industry by storm. The song is a mixture of Indian classical music combined with the modern upbeat genre.
The song begins with a lyrical cameo from director Karan Johar who hysterically comments on it being another remix. The background tune then begins as the male voice begins to talk about the rush of blood whenever a pretty girl passes by.
He describes how the girl has a unique attitude in her walking stance as well as expressions. The lyrics describe how this attitude, in turn, enables him to conduct flirtatious acts such as deliberately whistling in front of her.
The main chorus then kicks in where the male voice admits that girl has winked upon seeing him, indicating how she is willing to take a step forward with him. The chorus is sung repetitively for a number of times before the next verse is sung.
In the second part, Neha Kakkar sings as she admits how she has noticed the guy following him around for a while now, calling her out by name as well as whistling intentionally at her. She then proceeds to the same chorus, singing how she winks at him back to show her affection.
The two singers then lyrically credit the veteran Kumar Sanu by calling out his name. Sanu then sings the chorus before the song comes to an end.
The music video for the song was released on the same day and became a hit mainly due to its colorful performance. The main stars featured in the video consist of Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan.
The video begins with Ranveer making his way towards the girl as he is supported by a large number of background performers, some of which can be seen dancing, and others performing stunts on bikes.
Ranveer joins up with Sara as the two begin dancing together in complete synchronization. They are seen wearing t-shirts that are highlighted with colorful lights. The overall environment itself is full of life and color, with everyone cheerfully dancing to the tune.
In the latter part of the video, Indian acting veterans including Sonu Sood, Ashutosh Rana, and Siddharth Jadhav make cameo appearances. It ends with Ranveer posing with Sara in a romantic manner.
