The Song Review
A couple of months after releasing his previous album called Revival, Eminem suddenly revealed on social media that a surprise album had been released to address all those who had criticized him. As a reply to all his critics, the song Fall was released which specifically focuses on bashing the mainstream rappers of today by calling them out through his lyrics.
Now comes the kicker.
Eminem describes these rappers as overrated and claims how they hire ghostwriters in order to come up and write songs for them. As part of his diss, Eminem also accuses the Emmy Award show for undermining true talent by giving their awards to those artists that people have never even heard of before.
He also points out how he was the ray of hope in the world of rap when it was at its lowest. In what seems to be a revelation for all his fans, Eminem points out that “You wanted Shady? You got him!”.
Coming over to the official music video of Fall, it is safe to say that Eminem has really outdone himself this time in terms of the whole concept displayed within the sequence.
The video starts with Eminem getting different notifications of negative articles and comments as he is driving to the studios.
Enraged by all the negativity and criticism, Eminem rushes out of the car in annoyance and goes for a walk. He walks past a couple holding a tablet out of which, a black venom-like creature comes out of it and starts to chase Eminem.
Linking this whole sequence with the lyrics of the song, it seems that the black venom is actually Eminem’s old evil persona or more popularly known as Slim Shady.
Eminem makes a reference to his previous song called “Not Afraid” and claims how he is contradicting his claims and going back at targeting different entities to revive his old beef with them.
At the end of the video in what is considered to be an iconic scene, the black venom enters into Eminem, giving him black spooky eyes before he walks over his previous album’s DVD cover.
So Who’s Eminem, Anyway?
Eminem is one of the top and greatest rappers of all time. Throughout his career, he has been engaged in a war of words with different entities.
Whether it has international celebrities, his own music colleagues, or even his own mother, Eminem has constantly been bashing and exploiting them throughout the time of his career.
Adding Kamikaze to this list, Eminem holds the record of being the only rapper to have 9 consecutive albums that reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 200 list. Despite all the criticism he has faced throughout the years, it really does seem that Eminem can take them all on at once through his imposing music.
