Girls Like You – Maroon 5 ft. Cardi B: the Lyrics

The lyrics for Girls Like You is basically a portrayal of the strong women in our society who have made a difference for the better. The song is presented in a more or less romantic tune where Adam Lavine sings as to how special his girl is who completes him and helps him get through his everyday life.

To follow up these verses and the concept itself, Levine is joined by Cardi B who is portrayed as the girl as she sings about how he needs someone like her to spice up his life. She also gets real and negates all those fairy-tale desires by singing “I don’t really want a white horse and a carriage, I’m thinkin’ more a white Porsches and carats”.

The Video

Moving on to the official video which was released at the same time as the song, the sequence begins with Levine coming up to the middle of the spotlight, marking the beginning of the song.

As the sequence progresses, the camera angle begins to rotate around Levine who is then joined by influential actors, artists, YouTube stars including Camilla Cabello, Phoebe Robinson, Aly Raisman, Sarah Silverman, Gal Gadot, Lily Singh, Amani Al-Khatahtbeh, Trace Lysette, Tiffany Haddish, Angy Rivera, Franchesca Ramsey, Millie Bobby Brown, Ellen DeGeneres, Jennifer Lopez, Chloe Kim, Alex Morgan, and Cardi B. herself, amongst many others.

One of the most prominent features displayed in the video, that has also been praised by fans around the world, is how women of all color, race, religion, and ethnicity come together on one platform. This displays how humanity goes beyond all these factors when it comes to making a positive impact on society.
