Who knew celebrities could be so relatable? Justin Bieber, in Love Yourself, sings about eliminating a relationship with an abusive and manipulative partner. When Justin reminisces about his previous relationships, he discovers he was better alone than be unhappy.
The singer realizes the lover was taking advantage of them. She used Justin to get whatever she wanted; fame, money, or clothes. However, the singer had had enough when the manipulative ex-lover tried to create a rift between Justin and his family. At this point, the singer started to feel inferior and realized he was changing his moral values for his lover.
The singer says he is no longer interested in this girl. Even though the love interest recently shattered his heart and left him in tears, Justin has worked very hard to forget her. This is a huge step forward from almost calling her when the relationship ended.
“I don’t want to hold back. Baby, you should know that my mama don’t like you, and she likes everyone. And I never like to admit that I was wrong.”
Justin further elaborates that his mother disapproved of the girl he dated, which is quite odd since she is very welcoming. The clear disapproval made him realize how vindictive the lover actually is. He had made an enormous mistake seeing her true intention.

We see a couple lying on the bed, facing the opposite sides. The black and white changes into color to portray the story profession. The man in the relationship experiences unrest as his lover has taken the blanket all to herself. We realize the couple is background dancers as the song plays, mimicking the lyrics.
The man is dressed in a simple white t-shirt, grey shorts, and blue socks. On the other hand, the woman wears a yoga top and leggings. We see them dancing beautifully over the blanket, and then they take to the hallway. The woman takes the leftovers, which he was looking forward to eating the next day, thus showcasing inconsiderate dominance in the relationship.
There is a lot of ballet movement in the music video. The couple is constantly searching for love, but someone always pushes away. They cannot seem to connect, which is very unfortunate. Nearing the end, the woman realizes her partner is just a figment of her imagination when she wakes up from a nap. She turns over to see his side of the bed empty with a note left on the pillow that reads “Love Yourself.”
