Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is the sequel to the fantastic Modern Warfare reboot from 2019. To Activision’s credit, they have lessened the confusion here a tad. You see the original Modern Warfare 2 released in 2009 used the actual number 2 where as this one goes the Roman numeral route.

The Game Review
I am a weird Call of Duty player. You see, I am one of the few people that buy the Call of Duty games because of the campaigns! That means my views on the game are going to be based mostly on a single-player point of view so please keep that in mind going forward.
This is a direct sequel and Captain Price from the last Modern Warfare has put together a team called Task Force 141 which is a powerful team of elite soldiers comprised of some of the best military units in the world. I love Captain Price and he is just as much fun here as he was back in 2019.
The two main soldiers in the story are “Soap” and “Gaz” and they are two very interesting characters to play as. Task Force 141 is on the hunt for a terrorist called Hassan Zyani who has gotten his hands on ballistic missiles that were made in America. The campaign is fantastic, one of the best if you ask me!
The reason that the Call of Duty campaigns always appeal to me is that they make you feel like you are in a big-budget Hollywood action movie. This campaign is exciting stuff and has some of the best and most exciting missions from any Call of Duty game released in the last decade.
Now, as well as having a great story, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II also has some gameplay changes too. To start with, the AI seems a lot smarter, they will not just stand out in the open and let you mow them down as much as they did in past games. You can now shimmy along ledges, drop to prone and the vehicle sections are now much more dynamic and exciting too.
As I said, I am not a huge player of the multiplayer aspect of Call of Duty and that rings true for this game too. Now, I did try out the new game modes! The new game mode I liked best was Prisoner Rescue, where one team is trying to save a prisoner and the other is trying to build up defenses and stop this from happening.
They also added in another new game mode, Knockout. In Knockout, teams are trying to gain possession of a package and the twist here is that you have limited lives. One area that is disappointing is that as I write this, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II does not have Gun Game and that is the one multiplayer mode I do usually like to play. To be fair, it has been said that it is going to be coming in a future update.
I think that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is a much better game than last year’s Vanguard. This is one of the most action-packed and exciting Call of Duty games and easily the best since 2019’s Modern Warfare reboot. Even if you are not into multiplayer first-person shooters, the campaign here is more than enough to make this a worthwhile purchase.
