You have to give the people who made Craftopia, Pocket Pair INC a ton of credit. They took what makes some of the most popular games popular and mashed it all together and somehow made it work. Currently, as I write this the game is still in early access and there are a few things not finished and not quite implemented right.

The Game Review
If you had to put Craftopia into just one category, I guess it would have to be a survival game. There is so much more to this game though I am not sure where to start. There is a decently sized open world and your goal is not just to survive, but to flourish and make a good life for yourself.
Let’s start with the farming. You have several different crops that you can farm and harvest here. What makes, Craftopia different though is that it has a deep automation system at play here too. You can build epic produce lines that pretty much handle all of the hard work for you. It may take a while, but it is very impressive once you nail it.
Gathering basic resources is where you will be starting, but again, you eventually will be working up to making this an automated process as well! Having enough food so that you do not starve is one thing. Making tons of money from getting a major bank for the excess is another!
So far this sounds just like another farming type game right? Well, what if I told you that Craftopia also has dungeon crawling as well! There are hidden dungeons in the game with enemies to smash, bosses to fight and rare loot to collect. This aspect of the game is not yet all the way there. The hack and slash combat is fun (you can also do magic) however, the randomly generated dungeons seemed to repeat a great deal.
While the random dungeons more often than not being the same was a bit of a drag. I must admit that the hack and slash style combat felt very satisfying and easy to get to grips with. There is a pretty intensive skill tree that is only going to get bigger as the game moves along the development. I have focused on being a badass with a sword, but there are plenty of other directions you can take your character in.
There is even a weird Pokémon style monster catching/breeding aspect to the game as well. Now, I must admit, I could not get this to work, but I did not really try. Still, as a mechanic it is something, I like the sound of. There are even a ton of vehicles that you can build once you have gathered the right materials.
I know that this sounds like the game would be a mess, but Craftopia somehow pulls it all off. To tell you the truth, I have only just scratched the surface of what this game offers. I have not even dived into the multiplayer aspect yet where you and your buddies can work together to create an epic society, or you can just screw around and fight!
Even though Craftopia is in early access I can see this game becoming a big deal. It may be a little rough around the edges right now, but that is what early access is for. From the crafting, the farming, the fighting, and beyond this game is just stacked with fun things for you to get up to.
