Developed by IO Interactive and coming from Warner Bros., the downloadable action game Hitman 2 is the long-awaited sequel to 2016’s Hitman. But the series has roots much older than that. It goes back to the year 2000.
How to Download Hitman 2
To download Hitman 2, hit (pun intended) the Download button below the review. The game is not to be confused with the second game from the Hitman series called Hitman 2: Silent Assassin which was released in 2002. And if you like stealth games you should also download and check out Thief Simulator – don’t count on shooting, though. For this, it’s much better to go for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
The Game Review
Going all the way back to 2000’s Hitman: Code 47, the basic outline of the games has remained, more or less, the same over the years. Where things have improved are in tweaks to gameplay here and there. But one thing that has also remain constant is the series’ focus on action-packed, spy-versus-spy type gaming. Fans of stealth classics like Tenchu and even first-person shooters.
A single or multiplayer stealth game, Hitman 2’s name is deceptive – it is actually the seventh entry in the series. But don’t let the series’ long history scare you away. It is a very accessible game, even if its lore is somewhat difficult to understand.
The Story
The game puts you in the shoes of the iconic Agent 47 and tasks you with taking out the Shadow Client and his mysterious militia. Underpinned by the tropes of most action, spy thriller films, Hitman 2’s story is sure to please longtime fans. But it’s also a pretty good yarn on its own.
Hitman 2: the Gameplay
Where the series shines, however, is in its deep gameplay. For fans of stealth action games, it is tough to beat Hitman 2.
There are some 10 missions taking place across 10 distinct locations sourced from real-world locales. In addition to the vast array of scenery, Agent 47 also has access to a ton of different weaponry that allows players to tweak the game to their style.
Where this title sets itself apart from its predecessors is through the inclusion of a robust cooperative multiplayer mode.
In this mode, one player is Agent 47 while the other assumes the role of Knight or Stone. These two have unique weapon abilities so they’re not straight ports of Agent 47’s skillset.
The Graphics
Graphically speaking, Hitman 2 is really impressive. Each environment is unique and you don’t feel like you are venturing into a bunch of sloppily constructed areas. The art assets and the overall detail put into the game, coupled with the awesome sound effects and mood-appropriate soundtrack, really push Hitman 2 into the triple-A territory.
