Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Developed by Ubisoft Quebec and published by Ubisoft, the downloadable Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is the twentieth game in the long-running series and the eleventh major game in the Assassin’s Creed series of action role-playing stealth action games. Taking place during the Peloponnesian War, gamers have the choice of siding with Athens or Sparta in a classic matchup for the ages that evokes films like 300 as well as the best of Greek mythology and history.

As in most Assassin’s Creed titles, action and stealth combat form a large part of the gamer’s experience in the game but there is an open-world element in this game that is much more prevalent than in other titles. Piloting a ship in the Aegean Sea, gamers may be overwhelmed with just how much there is to do in the game’s world and that’s part of the magic of the Assassin’s Creed experience.

How to Download Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

You can download the game from Steam as far as the Windows version is concerned. The release date of the game is October 5, 2018. There are also PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions. If you like the series be sure to also download and check out the previous installment Assassin’s Creed Origins. You can also watch the official movie, simply called Assassin’s Creed.

The Game Review

Often taking place during specific historical epochs, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is no different from its brethren. The Delian and Peloponnesian League choices of allegiance is not only one of real consequence but also one of the first that really changes the core game’s narrative depending on your actions.

Often filled with more conspiracy theory-laden narrative than you can possibly take in in one session, this title is no different but its more grounded storyline involves real events and that helps give the in-game events the epic quality of an RPG game with the reality of a Call of Duty or another historically-bent title.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey emphasizes becoming a part of its world to a greater degree than in the past and this is a huge part of the game’s strength. It asks you to buy in and consider the various factions presented, not just from a gameplay standpoint, but from a narrative as well. Though typically choice in video games leads to the exclusion of other paths in that game, it never feels so immediately tangible the way it does here.  But that doesn’t mean that you don’t have a lot of button-mashing action to look forward to and it is here that Assassin’s Creed Odyssey shines.

Bringing back the hitbox that was introduced in the game Origins, Odyssey is a dream when it comes to executing combat maneuvers and in-game tricks and feats. Here the game’s perfect marriage of tight controls and excellent gameplay really shines as the challenge of the title comes from its increasingly chaotic environments and these really test everything the gamer learns up until that point.

A classic that rewards study and perfection, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is on a linear progression when it comes to ratcheting up the difficulty of the game while also combining elements from the story to justify the new difficult gamers encounter.
