What is the Game All About?
The Hurtword setting is just a background for multiplayer gameplay. The story elements have been cut to a minimum. We learn that our character has hit the vast sandy plain where his or her goal will be to survive. The rest of the story depends mainly on the player’s own invention and how he or she wants the character and story to develop. The history of Hurtworld is written by the community of players.
The mechanics of this game are based on those common to the survival genre, so you have to collect the resources, meet your basic physiological needs, and fight against other players. Your main goal at the beginning is to build a solid structure that will provide you with protection and also gather the components that will allow you to arm your character.
Hurtworld has implemented a weather system. It’s an interesting fact that the atmospheric changes also affect your character. Consequently, you must be careful about freezing and overheating, as well as you must make sure to avoid sandstorms. In the game, you can hunt for animals, thus obtaining the resources and food necessary for survival. You also need to watch for other players who want to take your equipment and supplies away from you.
There are two types of games to choose from: the classic PvP mode or the co-op mode, where you work together with other players. In order to protect the players, Bankroll has introduced a few interesting mechanics. The first one concerns the place where your character lands at the beginning of the game. If you are a beginner player, you get to a relatively safe area on the map. On the other hand, if you are an advanced player, the game throws you into the middle of the world where there are more enemies, but also more valuable resources to acquire. The second solution is a sort of a conscience system. If you have killed many characters, there is a greater chance that if you die someone else will claim all your belongings after your death. On the other hand, if we are just starting the game, you will have the opportunity to recover all the items you had before dying.
Poor Graphics. Poor Game?
Hurtworld looks a bit different from modern standards by keeping many things simple. But we should not forget that its main focus is the game mechanics and the survival itself. Minecraft’s a similar phenomenon – it also has simplified graphics. It bears repeating that the with day and night systems and variable weather make this game even more unpredictable. And this certainly can make us forgive the not so great looking graphics. Hurtworld is definitely a demanding game, but thanks to the efforts of the creators it gives equal opportunity to both the experienced and the beginners
