Sunset Overdrive is a game like no other. It’s very hard to categorize a game where you are moving around in the sky with roller blades and where you dash almost all the time. But that’s what makes this downloadable title so fun, the fact that it’s designed to be different and it doesn’t shy away from taking a lot of chances.
How to Download Sunset Overdrive
Sunset Overdrive was first released for Xbox One in 2014 and you can download the game for this platform from Microsoft Store. The 2018 Windows version can be on the other hand downloaded from Steam. To start, click on the Download link provided below this review.
The Game Review
The idea behind Sunset Overdrive is that an evil corporation is using its products to control people and basically turn them into mindless zombies. And all you have to do is to get to the headquarters and stop the machines and factories that do this to people.
What we liked the most in Sunset Overdrive is the combat. There are tons of different weapons in here, and shooting and aiming is very simple. But what makes things a bit more challenging is that you are always on the move. You can’t use a cover or plan headshots. You just have to be continually moving, and that on its own can be maybe the main challenge when it comes to stuff like this.
The game will last you for some good 6-9 hours depending on how much side content you do. It’s not a lot, but you can always replay the game, try out new weapons and learn new attacks. The game also has a lot of collectibles, not to mention that every level comes with its own leaderboards. Speaking of leaderboards, they are cross-platform, so you can compare yourself with other people from Xbox as well as all over the world.
There’s no multiplayer in the PC version of the game. Even if the Xbox had it, we are not getting it at least for the time being. And there are also some minor bugs, such as bad mouse controls and aiming. However, the port works very well and if you like fast paced games that play natively on the PC without hitches, you are bound to enjoy this one quite a lot.
The benefit that comes from this game is that it always ends up being funny no matter what you do. The dialogs are very good, and the gameplay on its own is designed with a very interesting approach towards fun and excitement. They do a very good job at offering you great new ways to explore the game and find new stuff.
However, the lack of multiplayer hurts the game a little. Yet once you see the vibrant graphics and how well the game works, you will forget all about that in a jiffy. While there’s no sequel on the way, at least for now, it’s safe to say that Sunset Overdrive is a masterpiece in its own right and a very different gaming experience.
It’s certainly a lot of fun, and the fact that you can use your creativity to attack enemies in different ways is bringing in a ton of replay value. If you love arcade and action as well as shooters and hack and slash titles, you will find a lot of great stuff for you here!
