The Game Review

In the game, you play the role of Sebastian Castellanos, the protagonist of the first game who tries to find his little girl in a town where everything has gone wrong.

You need to use all the tools at your disposal in order to get to her. There’s a semi-open world style, which does work here because it makes the story a lot more interesting and unique in most situations. That being said, the enemies are a bit repetitive and you will be a bit tired to find the same old enemy designs.

They do introduce new enemies from time to time, but you do get the feeling that they should have a lot more time put into the level design for the most part. It’s not a deal-breaker for sure, but it could have been better honestly. Yet it will be very well worth it if you think about it.

As you explore the world you will also find bosses. The semi-open world design allows the story to guide you. Even if it’s not exactly linear, this type of guidance works quite nicely and it delivers all the features and benefits that you want without any hassle.

The great thing about The Evil Within 2 is that it does maintain a good sense of horror throughout the entire experience. You will have a very detailed environment that adds to the story for the most part. You also have upgrades and crafting, a great addition when compared to the first game. You really feel that sense of danger and challenge that appears in a game like this.

It only gets better and better with this, and the best part is that you can easily adapt and adjust everything due to the entire process. It certainly makes a lot of sense to complete puzzles as you go onward, but these do tend to get a bit overwhelming for the most part.

Shooting in this game feels natural and fun. Aiming needs a bit more work, but for the most part, the return on investment will be more than ok all the time. It’s a great system to consider and something that you will enjoy quite a lot, to begin with.

Controls are great this time around, and you have plenty of upgrades too that just make the game a lot more intense and fun to begin with. Yes, it does take a little while to get used to it, but the game is designed with intensity and excitement in mind, and it always pushes the boundaries to get better and better all the time. Overall, it’s a polished experience and one you will like quite a bit.
