The Game Review

The main story of the game revolves around catching a murderer known as the Origami Killer. The Origami Killer uses extended periods of rainfall to drown his victims. Players must take their four factors through action and interact with numerous entities in order to solve the mystery. The game is available to play on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

Starting off with the main menu, the game only offers a single-player mode in the form of a campaign. The players begin as they follow the storylines of four different characters: Ethan Mars, Scott Shelby, Norman Jayden, and Madison Paige. Each of these playable characters has a separate story which eventually ends up linking to one another as the game progresses.

Ethan Mars is an individual who lost one of his two sons in an accident. Ethan went into a coma for 6 months after the accident after which, he decided to live alone as he blamed himself for his son’s loss. Two years later, Ethan’s second child gets kidnapped by a man known as the Origami Killer.

Meanwhile, Norman Jayden, an FBI agent, investigates the killer’s other victims and helps Ethan in his search for his son Shaun.

Madison Paige is a journalist who also decides to conduct her own investigation related to this infamous killer who only appears during the fall season.

Apart from that, the character of Scott Shelby is a private investigator who seeks information from the victims of the Origami Killer.

Heavy Rain is a unique interactive game which allows its players to make numerous decisions and the results are displayed accordingly.

The game has different scenarios and different endings which depend upon the player’s decision-making skills. Heavy Rain does not feature any sort of direct combat or fighting but allows the players to act and decide the fate of their characters. In some cases, the decision of players can even lead to the death of one of the playable characters.

More or less, Heavy Rain is an interactive game which is similar to Beyond: Two Souls. The graphics are more or less the same if compared. In both the games, the plots vary depending on the decisions made by the player themselves. The cinematic approach to an emotionally-driven narrative is also clearly portrayed in both films. In addition to that, character development also takes place as the storyline progresses. Most importantly, both the games have been developed by the same company, namely Quantic Dream.

Overall, Heavy Rain is a game which makes the players experience a wide range of emotions. The game is intense and emotional by all means. The interface is also user-friendly, and the outcomes are the results of the players’ own judgments. The game is extremely addictive in the sense that players often choose to play the whole game again several times even after finishing it the first time due to its wide number of outcomes.
