I love the PlayStation 3! Sure, it had one hell of a rough start, but Sony worked wonders to turn it around. With a ton of great exclusives, the PS3 was a machine that many of us spent a great deal of time with. However, the PlayStation 3 has been known to be hard to emulate, but RPCS3 seems to have finally figured out what made this console tick!

The Program Review
That is right, RPCS3 is a PlayStation 3 emulator and it is regarded as probably the best one that you can use right now. This is completely free, but they do have a Patreon and they have done such a great job with this throwing them a few bucks would not be a bad idea. What makes this the best PS3 emulator is that it actually works!
I have played around with PS3 emulators for years and found the results to be spotty at best. Heck, even RPCS3 here has been around for ages and I would say it is really in the last 12 months or so they have got it working right. What made me take notice of this was a recent video that showed the first Uncharted game running on it in a state far better than it ever was on the PS3!
It looked sharper, had a smoother frame rate and in all, it was very impressive. One of the things that I really like about RPCS3 is that they are really trying to nail all of the big PS3 exclusives with this emulator. Sure, some games may have issues, that is always going to be the case with emulation. Yet, the games that do work, seem to work better than they ever did on the original hardware.
If you have a PC with enough power, you can even get some games running great at a 4K resolution. Speaking of power, you will need at least a half-decent PC to run this. On the site, it has a list of what this needs to run so be sure to check it out. Also, on the site, they have a list of the games and how they perform. As of writing the PS3 library is sitting at around 60 percent playable.
As this is an emulator is has features that you do not get on the PlayStation 3 and I am not just talking about the way the games look and run. You can also save your game when you like to take advantage of save states. You can even add cheats to certain games too which is a neat and fun feature. You can even use your trusty PS3 DualShock 3 controller with this.
I am very impressed with RPCS3. It is still being worked on, but as it is open source, the community, as well as the actual team, are tinkering with it. If you want to play PlayStation 3 games on your PC then this is the best way that you can do it.
