Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) 1.7.3

If you want to pay around with mods in Skyrim then you have probably heard of the Skyrim Script Extender. The Skyrim Script Extender or the SKSE as the cool kids call it is pretty essential to use some of the better and more impressive Skyrim mods. It is the kind of thing that used to be a pain in the butt to use, but it is actually very simple to get running these days.

How to Download Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE)

The Program Review

You can get the Skyrim Script Extender from the official website if you like. However, getting it off Steam is going to make your life a million times easier. This is completely free and when you download it from Steam it treats it as an addon and it will automatically install to your Skyrim folder without you having to do anything.

Another neat feature of this being on Steam is that it should run automatically whenever you fire up Skyrim. One of the best features of this is that thanks to most of the best mods for Skyrim being on Steams Workshop, you never need to leave Steam. You have a one-stop shop for all your Skyrim modding needs. This is not just convenient; it also makes things so much easier.

Most of the more advanced mods use Skyrim Script Extender and without it, getting them to run could be a very frustrating experience. With it all now being able to run through Steam, even those new to modding should have no trouble. Even, I who usually screw stuff like this up had no trouble figuring it out.

We all know that Skyrim on its own is a fantastic game. Heck, Skyrim is available on PS3, PS4, and PS5 so that tells you how popular it is and they will probably re-release it again on the PS6! The thing is, once you have experienced Skyrim with mods there is no going back. From a mod to making the UI easier to navigate to something pretty radical like adding in Marvel Super Heroes, there is a mod for everyone.

I could probably spend a whole day writing about the best Skyrim mods. There are some that can completely change the game! Some mods are really handy in that they take what is at this point an “older game” and make it more user-friendly with various quality of life improvements. The thing is, doing stuff like this in Skyrim is made 100 times easier thanks to the Skyrim Script Extender.

At the end of the day, the Skyrim Script Extender is making using these mods possible. It is not just making it possible, but it is making it so you really do not have to do anything to get them to work. I could not even fathom playing around with Skyrim mods without having the SKSE installed on my PC. If you play Skyrim on PC, you need to go to Steam now and download this, it is free so you have nothing to lose, just awesome mods to gain!
