Swords & Souls: Neverseen is a game that came out of nowhere for me. This is actually a follow up to a game I completely missed. Let me tell you, I have had so much fun with this that I really do feel like I missed out on something with its predecessor! Well thankfully this game here is so awesome I was able to jump right in.

The Game Review
I must start by saying that I really love the sense of humor that Swords & Souls: Neverseen has. You are in the middle of a conflict between a witch and her evil forces and these… let’s just say kind of weird townspeople. As a brave warrior, you are willing to train and fight to save the day. It is a simple premise, but the tongue in cheek style of humor will have you smiling a great deal as you play.
Talking about a game like this is rather tough. This is a game that is all about repetition. You will train, fight, get money, upgrade your stuff and then repeat. You do this over and over again! It sounds boring, but it is far from it because Swords & Souls: Neverseen is very clever in the way it is constantly rewarding you for playing.
Leveling up, getting new weapons, new spells and so on. It always feels like just when you have had your fill. You get something that piques your interest once again and you decide that a few more battles would be a good idea. The training in the game is pretty awesome as it is done via minigames.
The training will give your stats boosts, but you can even spend some of your money on your training area to make it so you get a better boost. There is a blacksmith in town that handles your weapons and upgrades and you have plenty of skills and abilities that you can make use of in battles to.
Now let’s get to the battles. They are turn-based in theory, but they are not. I know that makes no sense, but hear me out. The battles have you do a move and then your enemy and so on. It all happens in real time so you cannot sit and think for five minutes about what you are going to do as your enemy will just nail you!
This causes battles to be rather fast-paced and while you can use melee attacks and things like spells. You also have things like a dodge, block and other attacks that run on their own meter. The blocking and dodging meters are very interesting in that you can only use them so many times before they need to cool down.
With this, you need to think about when you actually need to take a hit and save your block or dodge for a more powerful incoming attack. It sounds rather confusing I know, but it is very easy to get the hang of. If you are having trouble, you can hire some extra muscle in the town to help you out. As the humor is so great, all the people I have hired (and creatures) have always made me laugh as well as help out in battle.
As far as single-player RPG games go, Swords & Souls: Neverseen is one of the most fun games I have played in quite some time. This is the kind of game that sounds like it will get boring fast, but that could not be further from the truth. What we have here is a very addictive and funny game that will take over your life.
