The possibilities of being a manager of a sports club are almost unlimited. You can immediately sit on the players’ benches of the biggest clubs in the world or choose a humble club from the bottom and fight for the championship of the country and the league of your choice.

In the 2018 edition, you have 50 countries, over 2,500 major clubs, 600,000 real players, a real transfer market, and hundreds of stadiums. The gameplay is based on the typical work of the manager, i.e. the development of a football club. You can be the coach of a national team or of a club. You get a team and try to make the best of what you have received. Then you try to improve it. We can do this through training, transfers, club management and searching for young talents.

Each element of the game is done adequately, and the whole feeling is very realistic. You feel like a real pro. For example, during the training, you decide whether to develop one or many skills of any given player and during the match, you choose the line-up, the player’s bench setup and one of countless tactics. The game has several levels of difficulty so that every football fan will find something for themselves.

The strong side of the game is its realism. In FM18, there are players with real names, real clubs, and national teams. As every year, the creators of Football Manager have improved both the game engine and its graphics.

In addition to the typical management of the club, we have the opportunity to watch the games in a visual version. Undoubtedly, this is a strong side of the game, and players’ movements and physics are more real.

Football Manager - the History

The first game in the series was released in February 2004 and under the title Football Manager 2005. Since then, each year, a successor marked with the next year number appeared. However, you must know that Sports Interactive (the creators of the series) has already been publishing football managers before they became associated with SEGA as a publisher. Their previous game was Championship Manager (the first edition was released in 1992). After Sports Interactive has parted their ways with Eidos Interactive (their previous publisher) the rights to Championship Managers brand were retained by the latter. That other game kept on being released almost every year as well.

FM 18 has been released on all popular systems, also for mobile devices under the name Football Manager Mobile 2018. There is also the version for touch devices called Football Manager Touch 2018. On the game’s website, you will find specific information about the latest installment of the series, the system requirements for individual versions, and other useful information and help for the players.
