Football games also known as soccer games constitute a subgenre of sports games that has had many years of evolution behind it. The games that are the ancestors of football games appeared on Atari consoles. In these primitive versions of electronic football the player controlled a bunch of pixels that symbolized the players, and the pitch was seen from a bird’s eye view. Currently, football games are simulators containing real leagues, footballers, and faithfully rendered stadiums from around the world.

In general, football games can be divided into two subcategories. The first is Football Manager-style simulation games. This category of soccer games focuses on the aspect of managing the club and the team. Usually, they do not give the player the opportunity to control the moves of the players during the match. The player assumes the role of a manager who can observe the effects of his actions standing on the side of the soccer field. The games of this type are breaking the world’s popularity records, despite the seemingly simple gameplay.

The second type of football game is the productions in which the player takes control of the soccer players during the match. Thus the player can fully control their moves on the pitch, and the game usually offers a multiplayer mode. An interesting case is the FIFA series, which as of late has also been adding to its successive editions an increasingly extensive aspect of management. In addition to controlling the players during the match, there you can also manage your football club.

Currently, football games put a lot of stress on a high level of realism. They often have licensed players who even look similar to their real-life counterparts. The games also purchase the licenses for the names of professional events and soccer leagues. In addition to games that simulate real football, there are a number of crazy games that approach the subject of ball kicking in a relaxed way. An example is Rocket League, in which instead of using footballers, you kick the ball with ultra-modern racing jet cars.
