It is clear that the developer Tindalos Interactive could not have put any more effort into, Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2. Set in the Warhammer 40K universe this is a real-time strategy game that has gotten many fans very excited.

The Game Review

Let me start by saying that Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2 does what all good sequels do and that is up the ante in every single way. Rather than try to reinvent the wheel with this sequel they have made it bigger in scale in every way that you could possibly imagine.

12 factions are included (which is the whole set from the tabletop game) at the launch of the game. You have your favorites such as Orcs, Space Marines, The Imperial Navy and many more. I am not super into the lore of the world of Warhammer 40K, but the story they have used here is the most recent story that is in the Warhammer 40K world.

Speaking of the story one thing that is really cool about the game is that you have three different campaigns for you to play through. The Tyranids, Necrons and Imperium factions all have their own campaign so there is a lot to keep you busy from a single player point of view.

In terms of the gameplay, this is a real-time strategy game. However, I feel that the Warhammer 40K setting makes the battles feel far more epic than what you get with a standard war game. If you are not super into real-time strategy games then in all honesty, Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2  is not for you. However, fans of this genre are going to eat this up.

I say that because Tindalos Interactive has gone above and beyond to make the game feel as big as possible. The battles are much larger and the fleets at your disposal are massive in comparison to the first game. You have a lot of customization at your fingertips and it can be a little hard to get your head around at first. But that is part of the fun! Learning how to get the best out of the troops which are at your disposal.

While I have not dabbled in it just yet, teh game also has a very robust multiplayer scene that I think is going to be huge as the game gets more popular. The larger fleets and more intricate customization options that you have will give you more control than you had in the previous game.

One thing that is so easy to overlook with a game like this is the presentation. While I am not what you would call a huge fan. I love the style of Warhammer 40K! This game looks amazing and even when the action is zoomed out when an epic space battle is taking place things look incredible. The backgrounds where you see distant planets and all kind of mayhem going on help show you how war torn this universe is.

Talking about a game like Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2 is kind of tricky. You see this is a game that is made for a certain type of gamer. It is made for Warhammer 40K fans and fans of real time strategy games. If you do not like either of those things this game is not for you. However, for those who do like that kind of things, this title  is a must play! I can see many of you Warhammer fans getting well and truly hooked on this.
