Company of Heroes 2

Company of Heroes 2 is one of the most interesting downloadable strategy games that you can play right now. Not only is it designed from the ground up as a very action-packed game, but it works amazingly well and it has lots of content too.

The Game Review

The best thing in this game is that it offers a lot of realism and it really shows just how brutal and challenging battles were in WWII.

The fact paced multiplayer is all about skill, and that’s maybe the nicest part in the game right now. You have lots of units to choose from, there are multiple factions and commanders too. So there’s definitely a lot to choose from, you just have to pick whatever option works for you and go from there.

The Campaign

As for the campaigns, they did a very good job at bringing in front unique game mechanics and some of them actually get to have lots of replay value. The game is improving quite a bit over the first one. And the fact that you have war spoils added as a system is a good thing since you get to spend that on camouflages for vehicles, unit bonuses or commanders.

It basically encourages you to play more and have fun with, which in the end it’s what the game should all be about, that’s for sure.

The Graphics in Company of Heroes 2

Visuals are great, they did a nice job with making it look unique, quirky and distinct. It might take a little bit to get used to it, but in the end it does look amazing and that’s a crucial aspect to keep in mind. But as you can imagine, there are some trade-offs.

The war spoils system requires a lot of grinding until you get those points. And then you also have lots of microtransactions, which is what makes things a bit trickier in there.

Random Number Generator (RNG)

RNG in multiplayer is quite frustrating. No matter how good you are, you will always have to deal with some sort of RNG and that’s certainly the type of thing that you really want to avoid. We like the core mechanics of the game, but if you want to be really good in multiplayer you have to focus a lot on grinding and getting better.

Learning the maps is pretty much mandatory, and sometimes this push to learn everything does take the fun out of it.

The Bottom Line

Company of Heroes 2 is a very tactical and fun game. It definitely has its challenges, but at the same time the game is super rewarding and it really goes to show that you can have fun and just enjoy your time with a title like this.

It works great, it’s adaptable and adjustable and you will like it quite a bit. Rest assured it will be a lot of fun to play, although multiplayer balancing can be a bit of an issue. It does take some time to get used to it, but once you do that the ROI will be huge, so try to keep it in mind!
