Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe or if you are one of the cool kids, OTTD is a free-to-play game that is based on a classic 90s PC game. It is best described as a business management style game where you make money by transporting stuff from point A to B. Of course, there is more to the game than that and that is really why it has been so popular for so long.

The Game Review
The overall goal of the game is to build the ultimate transport network. You do this with trucks, boats, trains, planes and you need them all to take over the whole country and be the number one transport authority around. It is something that sounds very easy, but it is rather complex and very addictive.
The game starts you off with just a small town and a series of roads that you can use. You are responsible for cargo such as coal getting to where it needs to go. You make money by doing this, but how much money you make depends on many factors. How fast it was delivered and the overall quality and so on. You need to have a steady supply of cash flowing in so you can expand.
I stuck with just transporting stuff in a rather small area via the roads for a while. Then once I had some money behind me, I started my expansion! Things like ports, airports, train stations and so on can really help you expand, but they need to be built by you. Building a complex railroad system was something I had a hard time getting my head around, but once it all clicked for me, I was making some serious money.
The game moves through the ages and as this happens technology improves. This gives you better and faster ways to move your cargo and new industries will startup that need your transport services. There is always some kind of progression in the game and there is always something that needs your attention. It can be hard to keep an eye on everything, but that is part of the fun.
I spent my time playing Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe by myself as for me playing a sim style business game is a solo experience. However, if you want a bit more of a challenge, you can have an AI rival to compete with which sounds fun. Also, OTTD does support actual multiplayer for as many as 255 players all fighting to be the transport king!
I will admit that I was not really sure what to expect with Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe, but I found it to be a very addictive game. It is worth noting that it does take a while to really sink its hooks into you, but when it does say goodbye to your life. The fact it also has multiplayer and is being constantly updated makes this a game that you can easily spend hundreds of hours on.
