Today we are checking out a movie called 10. 10 was released in 1979 and was a massive hit, and it holds up very well to this day. I found this in a second hand store on DVD for 1 British Pound, and I was very excited to add it to my collection. When I was looking at the DVD, it was weird as I thought I had seen this, but the more I read the synopsis on the back of the box, the more I questioned if I had seen it or not.

Reviewing 10: A Dudley Moore Classic
Of course, Dudley Moore being in the movie was a huge part of the reason why I wanted to see this, but 10 has a fantastic cast. What caught my attention was that Sam J. Jones, Flash Gordon himself, was in the movie. I grew up loving Flash Gordon, so any movie that has Sam J. Jones in it, no matter how small the role, is going to grab my attention. As well as Dudley Moore and Flash Gordon, we also have Julie Andrews and Bo Derek in starring roles.
Why Dudley Moore Shines in 10
The best way to know if 10 is a movie for you comes down to how much you like Dudley Moore. If you find Dudley Moore hilarious, 10 is going to be something you have a lot of fun with. He is at his manic and zany best, and the more I think about it, the more I think that this may be my favorite movie starring Dudley Moore.
George and Jen: The Unlikely Obsession in 10
Dudley Moore plays the role of a man called George. George is in his early 40s and has a girlfriend called Sam, played by Julie Andrews. George is having a hard time dealing with being in his 40s, and while driving his car, he sees Bo Derek’s Jen, and he becomes obsessed with her. What makes this obsession stranger is that he actually sees her on her way to her wedding!
The Fun and Folly of George’s Mid-Life Crisis
The craziness of the movie ramps up to an insane level here. George basically stalks Jen to her wedding, crashes his car and gets stung by a bee. However, he manages to find out who she is and he makes an appointment at a dentist that just so happens to be run by her father. The scene with George, all hopped up on meds and acting insane after being at the dentist, is hilarious.
The Mexico Escapade and a Bittersweet Realization
Finding out that Jen and her new husband, David (FLASH A-AH!), have gone to Mexico, George makes the rational decision to head to Mexico to see her, keep in mind, he has not even truly met her yet! All the stars align, and after “saving” David, George is able to weasel his way into Jen’s life, but finds that she is not what he thought she was.
A Film That Deserves a Modern Re-Release
I guess you could say that 10 is a movie that is about a man having a mid-life crisis and realizing that the person he loves was there for him all along. Dudley Moore is just so much fun as George, and we feel like we are on this crazy adventure with him. This is a movie that needs a re-release. sure, my cheap DVD is fine, but the Blu-Ray, from what I have seen, is well and truly out of print and goes for a lot of money…. Well, way more than I am comfortable paying.
