I enjoyed the first Bad Moms movie and I think that A Bad Moms Christmas is also a fun watch. I think that there is a level of charm that this movie has which the first one did not. To be fair, I am sure that most of that is the fact that this is a Christmas movie and I tend to be far more forgiving with a Christmas movie.

Returning Characters
Once again, our three moms from the first movie are back, Amy, Kiki, and Carla played by the awesome Mila Kunis, Krysten Bell, and Katherine Hahn. These three ladies for the most part are all in a good spot in their lives and just doing their thing, but Christmas is approaching and that has them stressed.
Moms Take on Christmas
They meet up and talk about all the stress of the holidays and how hard it is for moms as they have to create the perfect Christmas for their families. Our three moms decided that this year they are going to take Christmas back and not have it be as stressful or as exhausting as it usually is.
Mothers’ Intrusion
That is a great idea in theory, but there is a problem and that is their mothers decide to crash their Christmas plans! Amy’s overbearing and interfering mother Ruth (Christine Baranski) shows up and completely hijacks her Christmas! Amy just wants a small family Christmas, but Ruth goes behind her back and starts planning a huge extravagant Christmas.
Kiki does not have things much easier. Kiki is managing with her four kids and her husband, but Kiki’s mom, Sandy (Cheryl Hines) shows up and tells her that she is staying for three weeks and that she has bought the house next door! This is way too much for Kiki as she loves her mom, but needs way more space from her than this!
Then we have Carla. Carla’s mom, Isis (Susan Sarandon) shows up and these two have a very strained relationship as Carla feels like she only shows up when she needs something. Before long, her true motives for arriving in town are revealed and once again, Carla feels let down.
Humor and Entertainment
You can see where this movie is going right from the start, but hey, it is a Christmas movie and I can forgive it for that. It has some very fun and rude jokes that have gotten a laugh out of me on multiple occasions. I do think that some of the humor is a bit toned down from the first movie, but it is very much done in that same style and from start to end, this is a fun watch, especially during Christmas time.
Final Thoughts
Look, A Bad Mom Christmas is not a great movie, but it is a fun movie to watch during the holidays. While on the surface this is like the first movie, a raunchy comedy, it also has a lot of heart and it does have the spirit of Christmas running through it. It may not be an essential watch each Christmas for me like Christmas Vacation, Gremlins, or Scrooged, but I would not be against watching it either.
