Talk about a wild ride, Barbarian is one of the most exciting, scary, and nerve-wrecking movies that I have seen in 2022. This is a fun horror/thriller movie that is a blast to watch and something that will keep you on the edge of your seat. You know, the more I think about it the more I think this may be close to the top of my list for horror movie of the year.

The Movie Review
Written and directed by Zach Cregger, he has well and truly outdone himself here. The oddest thing about the movie is the title, before I watched I was not sure what the title “Barbarian” meant. Even after watching it, I am still not fully sure I get why they went for this title. I would advise not looking into it as you may get the big twist of the movie spoiled for you.
The main cast they have here is great with Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgard, and Justin Long all being actors I enjoy watching. The story starts with Tess showing up at a house she has rented so she can go to a job interview. The house is not exactly in the best part of town, but it was available and seemed ok.
Once Tess arrives, she finds that there is already a guy staying there called, Keith. It turns out that Keith and Tess booked this place via different apps and that is how this mix-up happened. As it is very stormy outside, they decide to make the best of it and just agree to share the house.
Tess and Keith get along ok, even if Keith is a bit weird. What I loved was how you think that you can see from a mile away where the movie is going to go, but really you have no idea of what is in store! Keith finds a strange tunnel in the basement and before long, Tess ends up down there to try and find him.
Going down into this basement was a very, very bad idea as they soon find out that this house is hiding a terrible secret and this secret could cost them their lives. This movie is truly awesome stuff indeed and honestly if I were to tell you any more about what goes down under this house, it would spoil the incredible surprise.
Barbarian is a horror movie that really does have it all. The gore here is pretty brutal, especially a scene that happens pretty early in the movie. However, it is the real sense of terror and dread for the characters that gets your heart going. Plus, before you know what the big bad of this movie is, your imagination is running will. However, I assure you, your imagination is nothing compared to what is living under this house and what it actually is!
From start to end this movie was an epic thrill ride. The wife and I are horror connoisseurs and we love watching horror movies together and this one did everything right. We both said that we would watch this again and I am pretty sure Barbarian is going to end up being one of those movies we end up watching on a yearly basis. I will suggest that you go into this as blindly as possible as it will be more shocking and entertaining if you do!
