While I am a big DC fan, I have to admit that DC League of Super-Pets was not a movie that I felt needed to exist. Still, I decided to give it a try as it did seem fun and I thought they pulled together an amazing voice cast. Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Keanu Reeves, John Krasinski, Kate McKinnon, Ben Schwartz, Diego Luna, Olivia Wilde, and many more all lend their vocal talents to the movie, with some sounding better than others!

The Movie Review
The movie is about friendship and family at the end of the day and that is a nice and wholesome message that runs throughout the movie. However, at its core, I would say that DC League of Super-Pets is best described as a comedy and it does have a lot of laughs and had me chuckling throughout the movie.
As a DC fan, I found the plot of the movie to be a lot of fun. We start with the classic Superman origin story that we have seen a million times before, but this time, Krypto is put in the pod with Kal-El as he makes his way to Earth. From here we get this fantastic montage of Superman and Krypto spending time together, having fun, and fighting crime.
Dwayne Johnson as Krypto and Jim Krasinski as Superman work well together and the first act of them being buds is fun stuff. However, Superman wants to find a companion for Krypto and that is where Ace (Kevin Hart) Batman’s (Keanu Reeves) dog comes into play and the two have a very interesting relationship. The thing with Ace is that as much as I love Kevin Hart, his usually “energy” is really lacking here.
As this is a DC property, there is trouble brewing and Lex Luthor in an attempt to gain superpowers, causes a meteorite to land in an animal shelter and this gives a bunch of shelter animals super powers. Each animal is based on a different member of the Justice League and I thought that this was absolutely hilarious.
While these shelter animals getting powers is cool, Krypto actually loses his! When the Justice League get kidnapped, Krypto has to go to these newly superpowered pets and get them to help save the day. Look, the plot here could not be any more predictable, but at the end of the day, this is a kid’s movie and it is a fun watch – I think there is a good mixture of humor, action, and good family style values too.
I think the movie looks great and seeing all these iconic DC heroes have animal counterparts is something I will never get tired of seeing. DC League of Super-Pets is the type of movie that you can take the whole family to and everyone will have a great time. I am not sure if it is the kind of movie, I would be in a rush to watch once it comes home, but I have certainly seen a lot worse when it comes to animated movies.
