Eddington

I went into Eddington with hopes that I would like it. I loved Hereditary and Midsommar, and with Eddington also being made by Ari Aster, I thought this could be good. However, his last movie, Beau Is Afraid, was freaking weird, and while I thought it was ok the first time I saw it, I recently watched it again, and it did not click with me at all, and honestly, I will probably never watch it again.

Where to Watch Eddington Online

Eddington Movie Review: Mixed Feelings from a Fan

That I will admit, had me hopeful that Ari Aster would harness more of what he did with the likes of Hereditary than Beau is Afraid. The trailer for Eddington looked cool, and Pedro Pascal going head-to-head with Joaquin Phoenix sounded great. But the fact that this movie was set during the COVID-19 pandemic had me a little concerned. I like you, lived through that mess, and it sucked, and I hate it when movies and shows focus on it. I want to be entertained, not live through something that I hated!

Story and Setting of Eddington

The thing with Eddington is that I feel I may need to see this again to really know what I feel about it. I read some great reviews, but I have to be honest, this did not click with me at all. The movie takes place in a small town in New Mexico called Eddington, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Key Characters in Eddington: Pedro Pascal and Joaquin Phoenix

The mayor of Eddington is a man called Ted, played by Pedro Pascal. Ted has just put the town on lockdown and told people they have to wear masks. This was not his decision; it was handed down to him, and he has to enforce it. This does not go down well with many of the people of Eddington, most notably, Sheriff Joe Cross, played by Joaquin Phoenix.
