I knew going into Everything Everywhere All at Once that it was going to be a crazy thrill ride, but the impression it left on me was not something I anticipated. This is one of the best action movies I have ever seen and so far, this is the best movie I have seen in a theatre in 2022!

The Movie Review
This is a movie about the multiverse which is a “theory” I always get a kick out of and a theory that is very popular in media over the last few years. I guess you could say that this is a sci-fi movie because of that, but I would say that at its heart, Everything Everywhere All at Once is an action movie first and foremost.
It stars Michelle Yeoh as Evelyn Wang, a Chinese American woman who is the matriarch of her family and a lady who has had a few bad breaks along the road of her life. Evelyn is at her limit when she finds out that the IRS is going to audit her family’s laundromat business, but before she can really process that something happens… something big, crazy, and awesome happens.
She is pulled out of that meeting by, let’s just say someone and she is told that she is needed in order to save the multiverse! How can this middle-aged woman save the multiverse? She can tap into all the other versions of Evelyn that are in the multiverse and learn their skills, personalities, and everything about them in order to help her on her quest.
This movie is just insane and while it clocks in at over two hours, Everything Everywhere All at Once is the kind of movie that never stops and it just zooms by. The action scenes here are some of the best I have seen all year and while I have said that this is in fact an action movie.
There is more than just epic action here! Everything Everywhere All at Once has a lot more to offer than fists, feet, googly eyes and plastic fingers flying around the screen! This is a movie that has a fantastic story and one that deals with things like depression, a mid-life crisis, worrying about the roads you never took, and a worry about the future too.
I know that I am making it sound kind of bleak and in places, it can be the film does it very, very well. However, this movie really nails the ending and while it has a bit of heartbreak, I think that hope is ultimately the message you are left with when the credits rolled. Well, hope and a feeling of “what the heck did I just watch?”, but I mean that in the most complimentary way imaginable.
I really do not think that there is a particular kind of movie fan that Everything Everywhere All at Once is aimed at. This is one of those rare movies that is something everyone needs to see. I have already seen it twice in the theatre, and it will be a movie I pay the extra for to get the 4K release of when it is released. This is a wild ride and a ride that you never want to get off. If it is still on at your theatre, go and see it before it ends its theatrical run! You can also stream or download it from a digital platform.
