There are few movies that can offer the thrill ride that Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw provides. As a spin-off to the Fast & Furious series, this succeeds by being part of that universe, but also something anyone can enjoy regardless of how caught up on the “lore” they are. If you love awesome, over the top and badass action movies this is for you.

The Film Review
Let me start with the obvious, Hobbs & Shaw is not a movie for those who want something super deep. This is a movie that is all about fun and it never tries to be more than that and because of that, it works so well. It is the kind of movie that just zooms by as there is always something cool happening.
Hobbs & Shaw – the Cast
The movie has three main stars. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Hobbs, Jason Statham as Shaw and villain, Edris Elba as Brixton Lore. I also feel that Vanessa Kirby who plays Shaw’s sister Hattie deserves a shout out too as she is pretty awesome. With a lineup like this, you know that you are in for a good time.
The Plot
I do not want to spoil the plot for you. The basics of it are that Brixton Lore is a cybernetically enhanced badass and he has something very, very bad that can wreak havoc on the world. This leads to Hobbs & Shaw having to put their differences aside as they are called in by Hattie to help take down Brixton Lore.
From start to end this is a movie that is one heck of a thrill ride. Some have said that the movie is “silly” well that to me is a ridiculous statement to make. If you watch the trailer for this movie and expect anything more than an over the top action movie then that is on you. Hobbs & Shaw does what it does arguably better than any other action movie released in the last few years.
Idris Elba as Brixton Lore is just amazing. I am a huge fan of Idris Elba and getting to see him play such a cool, badass and awesome villain was a lot of fun. Speaking of fun, for me, the best part of this movie is the relationship between Hobbs & Shaw. Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham are just fantastic in this movie and I would go as far as to say that I like them here better than in any of the Fast & Furious movies.
Explosive Action
The action scenes are truly spectacular and while annoyingly the trailer gives most of the cool ones away. When you actually see the full scenes, your jaw will be on the floor. These are really well done and it makes me wonder how the Fast & Furious series (and action movies in general) are going to top what this has done.
Should I Watch Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw?
As you can probably tell, I loved Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. It is such a fun movie, a movie that does not take itself too seriously and you will have a great time with it. The performances from the leads are all great and as I said, Idris Elba as a bad guy is just awesome!
