Brought to us by the very talented Kirsten Lepore who has done some of the best animated shorts for Disney. I Am Groot is a fun collection of five shorts on Disney Plus that are just so freaking adorable, you will be smiling the whole time you watch them. I think that the excellent collection of shorts is something that Disney Plus does not actually get enough credit for!

The Movie Review
Each episode, short or whatever you want to call it is its own contained thing. The events of these shorts take place between the first two Guardians of the Galaxy movies. You can easily watch them all in one sitting and that was how my family did, as a matter of fact, my niece who was staying over when we watched these loved them so much she insisted we watched them all again straight after.
You can watch these in any order you want and that brings me to the most frustrating aspect of I Am Groot. These are not listed as an actual series; each episode is listed as its own thing. So instead of clicking on I Am Groot and all five episodes being there, you have to go to each one separately. I know it is a silly thing to be annoyed about, but it made going to the next episode more hassle than it should be. I love Disney Plus, but their UI is not the best!
Out of the five episodes, I think that four of them are really good and one of them is just average. My favorite one is called, The Little Guy where Groot finds a little civilization that sees him as a threat, only for him to give them food and they then see him as their savior. Of course, Groot messes things up, but in typical Groot fashion, it is hilarious.
The other episode that I want to give some special attention to is called Magnum Opus. In this episode, Groot decides that he wants to make a picture of all the Guardians of the Galaxy and in his effort to get some glitter, he blows a hole in the ship! These for me are the two standout episodes.
The only episode I was not a huge fan of was Groot’s First Steps, this episode sees Groot breaking out of his plant pot that we see him in during the credit scene of the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Even though that episode was my least favorite, I would not say that it was bad or anything like that.
There is not much voice acting in the show, but one thing that is really cool about I Am Groot is that they got Vin Diesel to voice Baby Groot and they even got Bradley Cooper to voice Rocket in the Magnum Opus episode. The shows have tremendous animation and Groot arguably looks cuter here than he ever has done before.
Even though you can watch the whole series in like 20 minutes or so, I Am Groot is another great addition to the Disney Plus library. I hope the popularity of this show encourages them to make more shorts based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Be sure to give this a watch, it is the kind of thing that in typical Disney fashion is fun no matter if you are 5 or 85!
