The Film Review
Released on 29th May 2015, the film is set 22 years after the events of the original Jurassic Park film and describes how the theme park has been rebuilt under the name of Jurassic World. The park has become more of an entertainment for people to visit and see numerous dinosaurs.
Vic Hoskins, the head of security of the company, invites a US veteran named Owen Grady as he tries to convince him that Velociraptors can be used as potential weapons in the US military. Grady’s suspicions concerning the dinosaur’s irregular behaviors are confirmed when a new genetically designed dinosaur, called Indominus Rex, escapes its confinements.
Meanwhile, the park’s owner and operational manager, Simon Masrani and Claire Dearing head out to stop the Indominus Rex and find Claire’s nephews, Zach, and Gray Mitchell, who were touring the park as well. The story revolves around Claire and Grady’s efforts as they try to evacuate the park and stop the dinosaurs from causing any sorts of casualties.
In 1993, Jurassic Park took the world by storm when they displayed such mesmerizing visual effects that nobody had previously seen. 22 years later, the franchise returned to wow the audiences once again as they claimed that Jurassic World would be bigger and better than all of its previous installments.
Visual Effects Supervisor, Phil Tippett talked about the CGI used this time around. According to animators and Tippett, the dinosaurs seen in the film were created with motion capture which basically required human actors to perform animal movements and in turn, those movements would be transformed into dinosaur movements.
Director Colin Trevorrow explained that new technology, that has been developed over the years since the first Jurassic Park movie, helped them give dinosaurs a sleeker look by being able to represent their muscle tissues with more detail.
In addition, the CG company Industrial Light & Magic used an application called V-Scout which could automatically transform dinosaur models digitally by creating placements and motion just by using an iPad.
Apart from that, the renowned company known as Image Effects also worked on the project particularly in the process of producing and animating different creatures in the film.
As far as the musical score is concerned, the talented Michael Giacchino once again contacted by the producers to come up with an appropriate theme.
Overall, Jurassic World is the perfect film to watch on the big screen as it provides intense action topped with adventure which keeps the viewers at the edge of their seats. The film has been an overall huge success as it grossed over $1.6 billion on the box office. The movie received numerous awards for its visual effects and overall production, making it more than worthy to watch.
