I enjoyed the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie movie that was released in the early ’00s, but before that, I had never seen the other incarnations of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Anyway, when I heard that Donald Glover was going to be in this, I knew I had to check it out as I am a huge fan of his and still hope that one day he will get to play The Prowler in the MCU, even though he did have that cameo in Across The Spider-Verse.

The TV Series Review
This was a show that I was going to watch on my own as my wife said she was not interested in watching. She decided to watch the first episode with me to give it a try and we ended up binge-watching the whole series on a weekend! This is such a fun and addictive show and it works as both an action show as well as a bit of a romantic comedy too.
Amazon Prime Original
Mr. & Mrs. Smith is an Amazon Prime original show. Now, I refuse to pay the extra for their non-ads version, they already get more than enough money out of me! However, I have to say the ads at the start of the show are so obnoxiously loud! What is the deal with this? The ads are eardrum bursting load, but then the show comes on and it is normal!
Plot Overview
Anyway, back on topic, coming in at eight episodes long, Mr. & Mrs. Smith is about two people, Michael who is played by Donald Glover, and Alana who is played by Maya Erskine. These two are strangers, but they are thrust together as they become super spies who are sent on all kinds of missions.
Unique Concept
They get to live this exciting life that takes them all over the world, but the catch is, they have to get new identities and this is where they become a married couple under the disguise of John and Jane Smith. It is such a fun and ridiculous concept, but it works so very well.
Episode Structure
Each episode is its own contained story where The Smiths (not the rock band) have to go on a specific mission. As well as the action, espionage, and excitement, the show also has rom-com elements as the two of them start to get closer and develop feelings for each other. Hey, this could be eye-rolling inducing, but they manage to pull it off because Donald Glover and Maya Erskine have such great chemistry together.
Outstanding Cast
While Donald Glover and Maya Erskine are the constants, Mr. & Mrs. Smith fills each episode up with some fantastic guest characters. Not knowing which well-known actor was going to show up in each episode was something that my wife and I found very exciting. Sarah Paulson, Paul Dano, John Turturro, and Ron Pearlman all got a big hell yeah from me when they showed up.
Conclusion
I honestly do not have anything negative to say about Mr. & Mrs. Smith. This is a fun and exciting show to watch and it is a show that I think everyone can enjoy. As of me writing this a second season has not been confirmed. However, I could easily see myself and my wife watching this again when we had nothing new to watch as we enjoyed it that much.
