I thought that the Bob Odenkirk led Nobody from 2021 was a fantastic action movie, and I was excited when I heard that there was going to be a sequel. Well, it took a few years, but here we are with Nobody 2. I think that this is a 90 percent pretty much perfect movie, and then it kind of loses its way in the final act. Nothing majorly bad or anything like that, but I did feel that the finale felt a little tacked on.
Where to Watch Nobody 2
Nobody 2 was released on August 15, 2025. You can expect it to be become available on Peacock and other digital platfroms 2-3 months later.
The Movie Review
Timothy Tjahjanto Takes the Director’s Chair
While director Ilya Naishuller did not return for the sequel, the script was written by Derek Kolstad, who wrote the first movie, so that is pretty cool. This time, the director is Indonesian filmmaker Timothy Tjahjanto, whom I knew very little about before watching Nobody 2, but the more I read about this guy, the more I liked him, and for his first big Hollywood action movie, I think that he did a great job.
The Plot: Hutch’s Family Vacation Goes Off the Rails
After the events of the first movie, Bob Odenkirk’s badass hitman for the government, Hutch Mansell, has been ordered to go on many jobs in order to pay off a debt. Being back in the “field” is causing some major problems at home, but Hutch has a great idea, a family vacation where he leaves work behind him and they just spend time together as a family.
Hutch has great memories of this theme park from when he was a kid, so he decides to share this with his family. At the theme park, Hutch, his wife, and the kids are having fun, but when his son is bullied, Hutch steps in, and this gets them kicked out, with one of the people slapping his daughter as they leave. Now, if you have seen the first movie, you know that there is no way in hell Hutch is going to let this be!
Corruption in Paradise: Colin Hanks as the Crooked Sheriff
Turns out that this fun little town with this cute little theme park is as shady as they come and is run by a crooked sheriff played by Colin Hanks. I thought that Colin Hanks was fantastic as the slimy, backstabbing, corrupt cop; he honestly nailed this role. This puts Hutch at odds with the sheriff and his men, but there is someone behind the scenes pulling all the strings. You see, this little place is a bootlegging route, and that means there is a lot of crooked money running through the place, and Hutch is causing problems with this.
A Misstep in the Final Act with Sharon Stone’s Lendina
The thing is, this is where the movie kind of loses me just a tad. I think having Hutch going against the sheriff and his goons was more than enough to tell a great and fun story. The addition of Sharon Stone’s Lendina as the big boss is not that great. Sharon Stone is hamming it up big time, almost like some kind of villain from an 80s cartoon, and that is fun, but I think you could have taken her character out of the movie altogether and it would have been better for it.
Still a Fun Ride Worth Watching
Despite that criticism of how the final act is, Nobody 2 was still a very fun time, and I would 100 percent be into a third outing for Hutch… perhaps that rumored John Wick crossover could actually happen? Once again, this is a slick and quick-paced movie, coming in at right around the 90-minute mark. If you enjoyed the first Nobody, I would be very surprised if you did not like this.
