“Fun”, that is the best way to describe what One of Them Days has to offer. This is just a good and funny movie that at its core is about friendship. The thing is, this is a movie that is not going to win any awards for originality, but it does what it does very well. Sometimes you want to just put on a movie, forget about the world, and be entertained for the 90-plus minutes it has you and that is exactly what One of Them Days delivers.

The Movie Review
A huge part of what makes this movie is our leads. Keke Palmer (she’s Peachers in Ice Age: Collision Course) and SZA play the roles of Dreux and Alyssa. Dreux is a waitress and trying to move up in the world and she has a big interview lined up, Alyssa on the other hand is an artist who is looking to make a career by selling her art. Keke Palmer and SZA have fantastic chemistry together and they are both super likable ladies who you are always rooting for to get out of this mess and have a good life.
A Hilarious Chain of Events
Our two leading ladies live in an apartment together and with Alyssa’s cheater of a boyfriend, Keshawn. Their landlord is super strict about getting the rent on time, but this month it has not been paid and that is because Keshawn stole the money to try and start his t-shirt business. If this is not bad enough, when Dreux and Alyssa figure this out, Keshawn’s cheating is fully revealed.
Their landlord does not care what happened to the rent money, he tells them that if the rent is not paid by 6 PM, they will be kicked out of their apartment and this leads the ladies on a quest to make $1,500 before they are evicted! Look, if you watch the trailer for One of Them Days, you pretty much know exactly what you are getting here.
Laughs, Chaos, and Friendship
They get into all kinds of crazy scenarios to try and make the money, but things just get made worse! They end up taking a pair of Jordans from a telephone wire but turns out these belong to a big time gangster and he wants five grand for this! They try selling blood, Dreux’s job interview is a disaster and their whole lives appear to be crumbling around them.
The thing is, through all this craziness, the friendship that these two very likable ladies have really does shine through. Look, you know how it is all going to go down, but the journey to get there is so much fun, and when that predictable ending does happen, you are very happy about it. This is a movie that made me smile, made me chuckle and it also had way more heart than I was expecting. The heart comes from Keke Palmer and SZA bringing these two characters to life in such a great, fun, and realistic…. Well realistic for a crazy comedy way.
Final Thoughts – A Surprise Hit of 2025
I came across the trailer for One of Them Days by accident when scrolling through YouTube and saw that it was on Apple TV. The trailer was a lot of fun and the movie 100 percent delivers on what the trailer offers. If you watch the trailer and you think the movie looks fun, I would say that the chances of you liking the movie and having a good time with it are very high. This so far is one of my biggest surprises of 2025 and I am so glad I took the time to watch it.
