I am pretty pumped to talk about this show as it is a real personal favorite of mine. I would say that so far, I have turned at least 10 friends and family members onto Ozark! This Netflix original crime drama is truly amazing stuff and the kind of show that once you start it, you cannot stop until you are all the way done.

The Movie Review
The show is brought to us by Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams along with Netflix. I am a huge fan of Jason Bateman and his deep involvement (producer and director) of the show was what sold me on giving it a chance. I would say if you like shows such as Breaking Bad, you will really enjoy what Ozark is offering.
I am not going to give any spoilers here as, like Breaking Bad, Ozark is a show that keeps you wondering what is going to happen next. Jason Bateman plays Marty Byrde, a financial advisor who lives in Chicago with his family. Marty seems pretty normal at first glance, but he is responsible for laundering massive amounts of money for a Mexican drug cartel!
Of course, if TV shows, movies, and the actual news has taught us anything, people involved with this kind of thing very rarely have an easy life. Something goes very, very wrong and Marty has to uproot his wife and two teenage kids from the city life they know in Chicago to the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri.
He has to do this to appease his Mexican drug cartel bosses, but now the money-laundering operation he is part of is even bigger! With more cash comes more problems (mo money, mo problems like Biggie used to say) and things quickly begin to spiral out of control. Look, I do not want to go into any more detail than that, this is the kind of show that is best knowing as little about as possible before you start.
The core family unit of Marty, his wife Wendy (Laura Linney), and kids, Charlotte (Sofia Hublitz) and Jonah (Skylar Gaertner) have amazing chemistry. As the series progresses the family dynamic of the Byrde family was truly engrossing to be a part of. Again, know as little as possible before watching! To be fair, Ozark does have a great cast all around and there is not a weak performance in the bunch.
As I write this there are three full seasons of Ozark on Netflix and the first part of season four is on there too. Season 4 is the last season and the second half of it is scheduled to air on Netflix later in 2022, Spring seems to be the timeframe that Netflix is pushing for. show
The first three seasons have 10 episodes and Season 4 part 1 has 7 so it is not a show that demands a massive commitment from the viewer. I will say that if you do watch the show, prepare to be hooked! The wife and I came into this as season 3 aired on Netflix and we ended up binging the first three seasons over the course of a week, it was that good!
