Let me start by saying that Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2 last for 3 hours 45 minutes! That is not a typo by the way, granted that is the Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2 Reloaded Version, but that is the version I watched on Netflix. This is an Indian action movie and let me tell you, there is no reason at all for this movie to last as long as it does.

The Movie Review
Ok, this is a bit of a rant, but at what point do you draw that line and say that this is beyond a movie, we need to turn this into a mini-series or at least break it up into two movies. It is not even an attention span thing, who these days has the better part of four hours to dedicated to watching one movie? The crazy thing is, this is not it for Pushpa, there is another movie coming!
The Plot of Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2
Where to start with this one? The movie is about a red sandalwood smuggler called Pushpa and his rise to become even bigger than he already is. Pushpa has to deal with his rival a police officer called Shekhawat as well as other smuggling rivals and bad guys. Pushpa is a kind of ridiculous and over the top character and that is something I got a kick out of. Pushpa is like The Rock, Vin Diesel, and Arnold Schwarzenegger rolled into one and as someone who loves action movies, I appreciate the over the top nature of the character.
Too Many Subplots in Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2
The thing with Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2 is that the story is just kind of all over the place. All we really needed here was Shekhawat doing whatever it took to save his face and take Pushpa down. Instead, we get a whole bunch of other subplots, most of which as I write this have already escaped my mind.
The weirdest subplot that the movie has is when Pushpa’s wife wants a photo with a politician, but he declines, leading to Pushpa to basically want to overthrow the government! Talk about an overreaction! We also get stuff with Pushpa’s past with his family as well. This is a movie that has so many moving parts, that it is near impossible to focus on them all.
The Visuals and Action in Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2
This is one of the most expensive Indian movies ever made and to be fair, you can see it on the screen. Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2 is a great looking movie, with some very stylish shots, especially the stuff where they used drones. There are some spectacular action scenes as well which are by far the highlight of the movie.
The Length of Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2 – Too Much of a Good Thing?
This is a movie that is just far too big for its own good! There is no reason and I mean no reason at all for this to last as long as it does! There is just too much stuff going on here and nearly four hours for one movie is just not something we need in this day and age. I have to be honest if Pushpa’s next adventure is over 3… make that 2 and a half hours long, I am out. I like the character and think with a smaller more focused story, a Pushpa movie would be awesome.
