Red Notice is one of those movies that the critics did not seem to like, but general movie watchers did. This was put out by Netflix and it features The Rock, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot. It is one of the biggest budget movies that Netflix has been a part of and I found the whole thing to be a fun action comedy that was very easy to sit through

The Movie Review
The movie is about these three special and very expensive eggs that were made as a gift for Queen Cleopatra. The whereabouts of two of the eggs have been known for a while, but one of the eggs is thought to be long lost. Well, it just so happens that infamous art thief Nolan Booth claims to know where it is.
Nolan Booth is played by Ryan Reynolds and he is textbook Ryan Reynolds in this movie and he is at his wisecracking best. Of course, if you do not usually like his schtick, then I am sure you will find him more annoying than charming. Nolan is in the midst of pulling off an intense heist for one of the eggs in Rome, but special agent John Hartley has other plans.
The Rock plays John Hartley and it is a very interesting role for him. John Hartley has the usual mixture of power and charm that you expect from The Rock, but he is also very intelligent. He tries to stop Nolan in his tracks, but something goes wrong and John Hartley ends up being accused of being in cahoots with Nolan.
Adding more confusion and drama to the mix is the world’s most famous art thief and someone that is always one step ahead of Nolan, The Bishop who is played by Gal Gadot. John Hartley ends up having to team up with Nolan to try and catch the Bishop and clear his name once and for all.
This is a very fun action comedy; it starts with a tremendous heist and action scene in Rome. However, we have an amazing bullfight, trouble in the jungle, a daring prison escape, and much more. It is very fun stuff and the fact that the movie doesn’t take itself too seriously keeps you interested the whole way through.
A huge part of the appeal of the movie is the bromance between John and Nolan. Seeing John have to put up with Nolan is great stuff and there is more depth to both of these characters than you would think. I also want to add that there is a fantastic twist at the end which I did not see coming so be sure to avoid spoilers before you watch this.
I hand-on-heart do not see what the critic’s problems were with this movie. Is it the greatest movie ever made? I would have to say no, but it is certainly a good time and one of the better action comedies I have seen in the last few years. It is supposedly getting a couple of sequels and that is something I am very excited about.
