The Flash is my favorite DC superhero. I have great memories of being a kid watching the 1990 Flash TV show as it would air before WWF Superstars. Ever since then, The Flash was my guy when it came to the world of DC superheroes. I feel like I have been waiting for this movie for ages, but it has been one that I have been a bit nervous about.

The Movie Review
To start with, The Flash TV series was something that I really enjoyed and despite what people say, it has far more good episodes than bad. Grant Gustin nailed the part of Barry Allen/The Flash so I was not sure I would be able to accept Ezra Miller as The Flash while Grant Gustin was still playing him on TV. I also like the Supergirl TV show and thought Melissa Benoist was awesome as her, but here we have a new Supergirl in Sasha Calle.
Secondly, the comic book that is the inspiration for The Flash movie is Flashpoint, is not just my favorite Flash story, but one of my favorite comic books of all time! The Flash had a lot to live up to and with the DCEU being shelved, Ezra Miller’s crazy behavior and this movie being delayed multiple times, there was a lot to be nervous about here.
Then we got that first trailer that showed Michael Keaton as Batman and I was like hell yeah, I was in! However, I was more into seeing Michael Keaton as Batman than I was The Flash! I think this was intentional as most people who I knew that were interested in this movie, were interested because of Michael Keaton as Batman. It was a very clever way for DC/WB to get people to go and see this movie in the theatre.
I am happy to say that The Flash is an awesome movie! Barry Allen decides that he can go back in time and change things so that he does not lose his mother, which causes devastating effects! It is the same kind of premise as Flashpoint but told differently and I am cool with that.
Barry needs to team up with other heroes, Batman and Supergirl to stop General Zod from destroying Earth! The whole way that time changes because of what Barry does is done very well and I think that Ezra Miller does an amazing job as Barry Allen in this movie and has far more depth than he did in The Justice League.
There is a lot of fun stuff in this movie. I loved the scenes where Barry had to deal with a younger more obnoxious version of himself. Ezra Miller did an amazing job here and there are moments where it is done so well, it is like they cloned Ezra Miller and had two of him on the set at the same time!
The Flash is an action-packed movie and some of the set pieces are incredible. I do feel like the Michael Keaton as Batman stuff is pandering to the audience, but I did not care, I felt like I did at 9 years old back in 89 seeing him again in the Bat Suit. I am not going to spoil anything here, but there is some really awesome cameos and moments that I did not know about before I watched the movie.
Some of the early previews talked about how some of the CG was a bit ropey, but to be honest, I did not think it was that bad. I am not even sure if I would have noticed it had I not been told the CG had some issues before I saw the movie. It is a great-looking movie in most regards.
I remember seeing Justice League when it came out and having a really hard time accepting Ezra Miller as The Flash when Grant Gustin was still playing him on TV. With The Flash movie, Ezra Miller pulled me in right away and Grant Gustin didn’t even enter my mind!
While Michael Keaton once again being Batman is one of the coolest things I have seen in a theatre this year, overall, The Flash was an absolute blast and I would love to see it again!
