Oh, yes. 2019 is a monster of a year for Disney. They have reimagined three of their classics into live-action this year (I am talking about Dumbo and Aladdin) with The Lion King being the big one for the summer. Regarded as one of the greatest animated movies of all time, this was one movie that Disney had to be very careful with when they brought it back to the big screen.
How to Stream or Download The Lion King (2019)
To get the movie, look for it on iTunes. First, you will be able to pre-order, and then once it is available – ultimately download it. Meanwhile, you can check the original 1994 2D animated classic (read our review).
The Film Review
The first thing that impressed me with the movie was the excellent voice cast that they got. They managed to get James Earl Jones back as Mufasa, but Donald Glover, Seth Rogan, Billy Eichner, Chiwetel Ejiofor, John Kani, and Beyoncé and the rest of the cast do a wonderful job bringing these beloved characters back to life.
When it comes to movies that I have seen in 2019. I would have to put The Lion King close to or at the very top when it comes to how good it looks. It was hard to tell what was real and what was not. The backgrounds looked spectacular and so did the animals themselves. It really is insane at how far CG effects have come.
So, the movie looks phenomenal and the voice cast all do an excellent job, but what about the movie as a whole? Well, The Lion King plays it pretty safe in that it does not change a whole lot from the original. In all honesty with you, I am not saying this is a bad thing as this is one movie where I really do not see what they could have changed to make it different.
