The Movie It is directed by Clint Eastwood and features a cast consisting of Clint Eastwood, Bradley Cooper, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Pena, Dianne Wiest, and Andy Garcia.
The Plot
Released on 14th December 2-18, The Mule is a film which revolves around the life of a 90-year-old Earl Stone who lives alone, separately from the rest of his family. Despite being a Korean war veteran, Earl can be seen going a financial crisis, barely able to afford food and water for himself.
One day, he meets and makes a deal with the head of the Mexican drug cartel, allowing himself to become a drug transporter for the underworld faction. Earl, being a war veteran as well as having a clean past record, becomes entrusted with large amounts of drugs.
He goes from one location to another, delivering the stuff without remotely even being noticed.
In exchange, Earl receives large sums of money which he uses to upgrade his lifestyle, as well as pay for his granddaughter’s education and wedding. Additionally, Earl’s age factor plays a big part in earning respect from the Cartel drug lords who refer to him as Tata grandfather.
Soon, however, rebellions occur within the Cartel which leads to the murder of the head of the whole association. At the same time, Earl delays one of his deliveries because of his dying wife whom he wishes to make peace with.
This act, in addition to the changing environment, leads the other Cartel members to look upon Earl with suspicion and, in turn, demand that he be kept under more strictness.
Meanwhile, a drug enforcement agency task force is seen investigating Cartel delivers. This eventually enables them to track down the whole operation until a point where they locate Earl and arrest him on the spot. As a result, Earl confesses to all his crimes and is sent to state prison.
The film ends with Earl eventually returning to his farm as he finally makes peace with himself as well as with his family.
The Bottom Line
The Mule is the type of film which places a strong emphasis on the concept of family. The viewers get to see how there is a constant void in Earl’s life as he can be seen completely living alone.
His desire to be loved is what drives him to work with the Cartels and as a result, he uses a major portion of his money on his granddaughter.
