Thor: Love and Thunder brings back Chris Hemsworth’s Thor for a fourth solo movie. Thor is so far the only character in the MCU to get four solo outings! The first two Thor movies were okay, but I would have them close to the bottom of my list if I were ranking all of the movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Movie Review
With Thor: Ragnarok, Taika Waititi took over the franchise and completely changed things, so much so that Thor: Ragnarok is one of my favorite movies in the entire MCU. Thor: Love and Thunder is a direct sequel to that and what would follow after the events of Avengers: Endgame.
We get a fantastic sequence where Korg tells people the story of Thor and it is hilarious as you would expect. We get to see him go from a boy to a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy and it is great stuff. The mixture of humor and action from the last Thor movie and even the Guardians of the Galaxy movies are most certainly present here.
Before going into this I had heard that it was more of a romantic comedy and while I “got that” I was sure this was greatly exaggerated. Well, nope, Thor: Love and Thunder is best described as a romantic comedy and I mean that in the most complimentary way you could imagine.
Thor is once again thrown into contact with Jane Foster, but this time Jane has been deemed worthy of having the power of Thor by Mjolnir and now she is Mighty Thor! Seeing Thor and Jane grow closer and closer is just so much fun and I have my doubts anyone other than Taika Waititi could have pulled this love story off as well as it is showcased here.
The whole Thor and Jane thing is just one of many plot points that Thor: Love and Thunder has going on. We also have Gorr the God Butcherer (Christian Bale) who is on a mission to kill all gods. He is very disturbing and a great foe for our heroes to go up against. They are on a trip across the cosmos to put a stop to his dastardly plan and it is awesome stuff.
One area where I feel that things were perhaps a tad rushed was with Valkyrie. Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie is just amazing as she was last time out. However, as the new king of Asgard, I felt that she should have perhaps got a bit more time to show off what she had been doing to keep Asgard running while Thor was away on his intergalactic adventures.
This is a movie that moves at a very blistering pace. We have some of the best action scenes we have ever seen in a Thor movie with a badass and rocking soundtrack that got me completely pumped up. This is an absolute visual spectacle and the different parts of the cosmos they travel to give the production crew a real chance to flex those creative muscles.
It should go without saying, but if you are a fan of the MCU, you will love Thor: Love and Thunder. I would still say that I like Thor: Ragnarök better, but it is much closer than I thought it would be. This is a very fun time, so much fun that I am already making plans to go back and see it again next weekend!
